  • MLS Week 6 action is headlined by Saturday's marquee matchup between the league's top two teams, D.C. United and LAFC, at Audi Field (3 p.m. ET on FOX).
  • Bettors have been highly active across the board this weekend and we've broken down all the public and sharp money making an impact.

After a promising start for draws this season they fell flat on their face in Week 5:

  • Home Teams: 6 wins (+0.4 units)
  • Road Teams: 5 wins (+2 u)
  • Draws: 1 win (-8.45 u)

Road teams had the edge once again and are +6.85 units through the first month. Home teams and draws are now both in the red.

There have been at least three goals scored in 28 of 52 matches (53.85%) and the over/under is listed at 3 for seven of the eleven games on the board for Week 6.

MLS Week 6 Odds and Betting Breakdown

There's no doubt that D.C. United-LAFC is the marquee matchup in the MLS this weekend and it's set to kick off in the heart of Saturday's soccer action around the world.

LAFC became the first club to reach four wins this year after dismantling San Jose last Saturday, 5-0. Carlos Vela has already scored six goals this season, more than nine entire MLS clubs, and is likely the early frontrunner to win MVP.

Meanwhile, D.C. United are one of two unbeaten clubs in the Eastern Conference and have conceded just one goal along the way. It will be fascinating to see if they can contain the attacking firepower that LAFC brings.

The only downside to this game has been the lack of exciting betting activity. The three-way moneylines have all received normal support and have barely budged since opening Tuesday. With both clubs listed at plus-money odds, it's tough to tell which direction this game will go, so I'll just sit back and enjoy it.

Although there haven't been any fluctuations in the premiere match, sportsbooks have been drastically changing the odds on a number of Eastern Conference home favorites:

  • New York City FC (+100 to -150) vs. Montreal Impact
  • New York Red Bulls (-145 to -185) vs. Minnesota United
  • Toronto FC (-150 to -170) vs. Chicago Fire
  • Orlando City (+100 to -125) vs. Colorado Rapids
  • Philadelphia (+115 to -120) vs. FC Dallas

These are the five most popular bets of the weekend and the line moves have certainly been toward a mixed bag of under-performing and over-performing teams.

NYC FC are winless on the year although they get to face a Montreal side that just lost 7-1 at Sporting KC. New York's other club has also struggled as the Red Bulls have been shutout in consecutive one-goal losses.

Meanwhile, smart money on Toronto FC, Orlando City and Philadelphia may be more warranted based on recent form.

The only Western Conference teams getting any love are Seattle (-180 to -220), Portland (+185 to +140) and Sporting KC (+240 to +190).

In the totals market, goals are to be expected for Toronto FC-Chicago as the clubs have combined for 3+ goals in five straight meetings. Sportsbooks have been hit with some sharp action on the over (3) for Saturday's matchup which is worth a bet at -115 or better.

Value Plays (MLS Season Record: 6-10-1, -1.55 units)

  • Toronto FC-Chicago Over 3 (-115)
  • San Jose-Portland Draw (+270)
