Los Angeles flew in the day before, flew out immediately after, and never adjusted to the time change. Now they return home on extended rest for Monday Night Football, and Stuckey values Week 2 adjustments more each year as starters take fewer preseason snaps. The Giants half of the overreaction matters just as much. New York earned credit for the effort against Dallas, but Stuckey attributes much of it to a brand-new Cowboys defense that had no idea what a new-look offense looked like. Two weeks ago nobody bought the Giants, and everybody crowned the Rams.
Injuries complicate it. Puka Nacua's status stayed unclear into Sunday and trended the wrong way, Jordan Whittington sits out, and a thin receiver room softens what looks like a mismatch against a banged-up New York cornerback group. Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett also misses this one, though Aaron Donald makes his season debut, which adds another unknown.
