The PGA Tour heads to The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, for the Genesis Scottish Open, a co-sanctioned event with the DP World Tour played the week before The Open Championship.

The Tom Doak-designed course (2008) is a hybrid of links, heathland and parkland styles, a par 70 stretching to 7,237 yards, with fescue turf, deep pot bunkers and huge, slow, undulating greens that reward the ground game.

The field is one of the strongest outside the majors: Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, defending champion Chris Gotterup, plus major winners like Schauffele, Morikawa, Thomas, and Hovland, along with LIV players Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton.

Weather is the course’s main defense. In calm years (2023-24) it played easy and became a birdie-fest; in windy years (2022, 2025) scoring jumped significantly. Statistically, the setup favors longer hitters with strong long-iron play, since missed fairways carry little penalty.

The keys to success are approach play, putting (the slow fescue greens are among the toughest to gain strokes on), performance in wind, and avoiding three-putts on the massive green complexes.

DraftKings Strategy

Xander Schauffele – $9,800

The anchor of this lineup. A past champion at The Renaissance Club with arguably the highest floor in golf. His worst weeks still land around T15. When you’re building a six-man roster, you need a player you never have to worry about, and Xander is the perfect starting point.

Tyrrell Hatton – $8,900

With LIV players in the field this week, Hatton stands out. He’s very familiar with this course and has always been comfortable playing across the pond. Total feel play, but the feels are strong.

Nicolai Hojgaard – $8,000

Coming off a great showing at the Travelers and a proven performer at Renaissance. His distance off the tee is a real weapon here, and he excels on slow greens like these fescue surfaces. He’s been due for a win for a long time; this feels like the spot.

Alex Fitzpatrick – $7,900

I just love his game. He’s a strong finisher, and with this event carrying such a DP World Tour feel, this could be the week he grabs his first solo PGA Tour win. Those DP-seasoned players tend to thrive here, and I like leaning into a European-heavy build.

Shane Lowry – $7,800

The Irishman is flying way under the radar. His approach play has been absolutely beautiful lately, and he putts well on slower greens. At this price, he’s one of the best values on the board.

Tom Kim – $7,600

Rolling the rock beautifully and playing some of his best golf. He’s had success at this course before, and at this salary, he rounds out the lineup perfectly.
