For my Wednesday MLB player props, I'm looking into three hitters in Matt Olson, Vladmir Guerrero Jr., and Ben Rice.
Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks for the MLB games on Wednesday, September 17.
MLB Player Props for September 17, 2025
- Matt Olson Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105, Fanatics)
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + Runs Batted In (-150, Fanatics)
- Ben Rice Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105, BetMGM)
Braves vs Nationals Player Props: Matt Olson Over 1.5 Total Bases
Matt Olson has four 30-homer seasons and has finished with 29 in two other years. He is certainly trying his best to get there once again, having homered in four consecutive games to bring him to 27 on the year. While his homer streak ended in the second game of yesterday's doubleheader, he settled for a three-run triple that helped the Braves break the game open in the 10th inning.
Including the aforementioned home runs, Olson is 12-for-27 (.444) with 11 RBI and a 1.558 OPS. He will look to continue his extra-base streak against Brad Lord, who Olson is 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against. However, Lord has allowed three earned runs or more in four of his last five starts. He also has been torched by left-handers, who have 23 extra-base (10 home runs) and a .841 OPS.
The Braves have scored 11 runs off the Nationals' bullpen in the first three games of this series. If Olson cannot crack Lord, I like his chances with a couple of opportunities with the Nationals' relievers. Either way, he should clear two total bases once again.
Blue Jays vs Rays Player Props: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
With another win over the Rays last night, the Blue Jays' magic number is down to three. Guerrero was a factor once again with two hits, including a RBI single. Over his last 15 games, Guerrero is hitting .417 with 10 runs scored, eight runs batted in, and a 1.052 OPS. Guerrero is seventh in the MLB in batting average (.302) and eighth in OPS (.884) this season.
Guerrero will face Rays' rookie Ian Seymour for the first time. The left-hander has been impressive with a 3.16 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 42 and 2/3 innings, but he faces a tall task against a Blue Jays' lineup that is not prone to striking out. Meanwhile, Guerrero has hit over .300 against left-handed pitchers in each of the last two years and is batting .341 with 14 extra-base hits in 123 at-bats against them this season.
Despite favorable hitting conditions in Toronto, Guerrero has been better on the road this season, hitting .332 with a .933 OPS in road games, recording a hit in seven of his last eight away from the Rogers Centre. In that span, he has cleared this line six times while averaging 3.75 hits + runs + runs batted in per game. He should be able to get at least two tonight.
Yankees vs Twins Player Props: Ben Rice Over 1.5 Total Bases
Ben Rice has been an interesting case this season because he has been a Statcast darling, ranking above average in all batting metrics and in the 90th percentile or better in several of them, including a 96th percentile ranking in expected batting average with a .297 mark. However, he is hitting just .248 on the year, indicating that he has been one of the unluckiest hitters in the MLB.
Lately, the good luck has been on his side.
Rice has a hit in five of his last six games and is 9-for-19 (.471) in that span. Tonight, he will face Taj Bradley. who he is 4-for-6 against with two doubles. Bradley has done fairly well against the Yankees in his career, but the Yankees did get six runs off him in April. He is also giving up a .740 OPS to left-handed hitters compared to .665 against right-handers.
Surprisingly, Rice does not have a home run during his hot week, but he does have 23 on the season. Rice is +400 on BetMGM for a long ball tonight. However, a third double off Bradley will also give him two total bases.
