Gonzaga vs Oregon College Basketball Betting Preview

Gonzaga Basketball

Gonzaga lost by 40 points to Michigan, its lone blemish on the season. The Zags' 11 wins have all been by double digits, and the eye test has been incredibly impressive.

And in the college landscape of 365 teams, they rank top-80 in every major statistic. If you took out their mediocre 80th-ranked 3-point percentage, they'd rank top-31 in every major statistic.

They rank seventh in adjusted offensive efficiency and fourth in defense adjusted efficiency.

The Bulldogs actually came into the season a little bit undervalued. They were ranked 21st in the AP Poll to start the season, their lowest ranking to start a campaign over the last few seasons. Now they enter as the seventh-ranked team.

Mark Few’s bunch has typically done better with few expectations, while struggling to meet the loftier goals. But now the cat is out of the bag, and this team has a good claim for the best that Mark Few has ever had.

The Zags are led by top freshmen, and one of the best transfer classes in the sport, including the Grand Canyon product of Tyon Grant-Foster. Grant-Foster, Braden Huff and Graham Ike are all double-digit scorers, leading this Bulldogs team to a 92.1 points per game.

Oregon Basketball

Following four straight victories to open the season with five straight losses has led to Oregon being a mixed bag. The Ducks' losses haven’t been a mystery, as they’ve struggled against top-tier opponents, while beating weaker foes.

Their metrics are middle of the road, but they're consistently average. They rank 81st and 80th in adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency, respectively.

They struggle at times with turnovers, which leads them to fall behind with big runs from opponents.

This will definitely be an area that Gonzaga can take advantage of, allowing the Zags to continue to push pace.

Oregon will have no choice but to follow suit.

Gonzaga vs. Oregon Betting Analysis

The total is currently 159.5, and while it’s a little bit higher than I'd like, overall shot volume and pace will dictate plenty of opportunities for points.

Gonzaga will jump out to a big lead, which might help us in the over because it'll force Oregon to push its own pace.

Gonzaga averages 92 this season, and if it can match that average, we only need Oregon to score around 70 points.

I'll take the over, and I confidently back this up to 161.5 points.

My Pick: Over 158.5 (Play to 161.5)
