Florida State vs Miami College Football Preview
Florida State Seminoles Betting Preview: Daniels Far from Efficient
Florida State enters its Week 7 matchup with Miami with a 3-3 overall record and will be highly motivated to pull off the biggest upset of the college football season to date.
I worry about the Noles' ability to contain an elite, up-tempo Miami Air Raid that features perhaps the best QB in college football in Darian Mensah, alongside an impressive receiving corps.
While Florida State QB Ashton Daniels has shown flashes of elite play for the Seminoles, the former Stanford product has been far from efficient, throwing just seven passing touchdowns and six interceptions this season.
That said, Daniels boasts tremendous athleticism, which has led to 10 rushing touchdowns (already tying the program record for most rushing TDs by a quarterback).
Florida State’s rushing attack — led by halfback Ousmane Kromah — has been quite impressive as well, with the sophomore already racking up 565 yards on the ground (16th nationally).
I'm far more concerned about this Florida State defensive unit, as it must contain the likes of Mensah, Malachi Toney, Cooper Barkate and Mark Fletcher Jr.
Miami (FL) Hurricanes Betting Preview: Toney Drives Passing Game
The Canes will put their 5-0 undefeated record on the line on Saturday night in what marks the 71st meeting between these two programs. Miami has prevailed in 37 of the two programs’ previous 70 encounters.
For a Mario Cristobal offense that's scoring nearly 50 points per game over the Canes' first five contests, this will be an extremely difficult challenge against a Seminole defense allowing over 25 points.
Miami features the top-ranked offense in the FBS, averaging just shy of 555 yards per game and over 8.2 yards per play.
The Canes also lead all of college football in scoring defense, keeping their opponents to a remarkably impressive 9.8 points of offense per contest.
Mensah has been phenomenal in his first season with the Canes.
He's aired it out for 1,438 yards in his first five games and has done so in spectacular fashion, with the former Blue Devil throwing a whopping 15 TD passes without a single interception and also leading the entire country with a 92.5 QBR on the season thus far.
A great deal of Mensah’s success offensively can be attributed to the exceptional play of his lead wideout — Toney — who's quickly established himself as one of the best overall players in college football.
Toney has caught 39 passes over his first five games and ranks among the top eight in the sport with 604 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Fletcher leads Miami’s backfield with 307 yards, along with five rushing touchdowns, which could be slightly problematic for a Noles defensive unit that just allowed Louisville to produce nearly 400 rushing yards in Week 6.

Florida State vs Miami (FL) Pick, Betting Analysis
I absolutely love Miami in this spot on Saturday night given Cristobal’s bunch boasts a far superior unit on both sides of the football.
For a Noles’ secondary that's been plagued by coverage busts, missed tackles and an inconsistent pass rush, I fully expect a disciplined, explosive Miami offense to absolutely dominate Florida State’s defense.
I absolutely love the Canes at -20.5 in what should be a blowout in front of a packed home crowd at Hard Rock Stadium.
I'm also expecting another massive performance from Toney and I feel quite confident backing the Canes youngster to record at least 100 receiving yards (-125), in addition to his finding the back of the end zone at least twice (+250) on Saturday evening.
Picks:
- Miami -20.5
- Malachi Toney 100+ Receiving Yards (-125,)
- Malachi Toney 2+ TD (+250)
