Georgia Tech vs Colorado Preview

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Preview: Plenty of Returners
When I look at potential sleeper teams in the ACC, Georgia Tech stands out to me as the team that could challenge to make it to Charlotte for the ACC Championship game.
Stud quarterback and team leader Haynes King is back under center, as is dynamic running back Jamal Haynes and top pass-catcher Malik Rutherford.
Very few teams in the conference can say they return their quarterback, top rusher and best receiver.
I also loved the way the Yellow Jackets ended the year, upsetting Miami and then coming within one play of winning their rivalry game against Georgia in Athens in an eight-overtime thriller.
For my money, Brent Key is one of the top-20 coaches in all of college football, and given his expertise concerning offensive line play, I'm not too concerned about some new faces in the starting five O-line group.
I think this offense has the potential to be elite, which is concerning for a Colorado defense with plenty of holes.
There are some question marks when you look at GT's defensive unit, starting with a new defensive coordinator in Blake Gideon. Gideon comes over from Texas and is highly regarded within coaching circles, but this will be his first time in a coordinator role.
If the transfer pieces in the secondary can hit, there's plenty of hope for this unit because the front four should be very solid.

Colorado Buffaloes Betting Preview: No Shedeur, No Hunter
The Colorado Buffaloes enter the 2025 season with a ton of questions.
Let's start with the fact that head coach Deion Sanders faced a ton of health challenges in the offseason. It's great to hear that Coach Prime appears to have made a 100% recovery from bladder cancer, as there was legitimate concern he would have to step away from coaching duties this season.
That said, I'd imagine he wasn't as involved in the day-to-day in the offseason as he would have liked to be, which is concerning for a team with a ton of new faces from the transfer portal.
The reason for new faces? Some significant losses on both sides of the ball, starting with quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy-winning cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter.
Shedeur was the leader of the offense for the last two seasons and often made up for poor offensive line play with his scrambling ability. Hunter was the ultimate playmaker and had his hand in everything the Buffs did on both sides of the ball.
Colorado will turn to Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter to lead the offense, and he has had plenty of success at the Group of Five level. The Big 12 will be a significant step up in weight class for Salter, however, and it will be interesting to see if he can handle it right out of the gates.
In addition to Hunter, the Buffaloes also lost their three other most productive wideouts from last season, and as a result, the offense will basically have a completely new group of skill players.
Some good news? Colorado should be better in the trenches on both sides of the ball.
Four offensive linemen come in from the transfer portal, including Zylon Crisler from Illinois and Aki Ogunbiyi from Texas A&M.
On the defensive side, the Buffs lost some key bodies, but Jahiem Oatis from Alabama and others come in to help bolster a group that opponents could run on a year ago.
Ultimately, when I look at what realistic expectations are for the Buffaloes this season, it's hard not to feel like six wins and a bowl appearance is the ceiling.
There are just too many new faces and moving parts to expect things to run crisply, especially at the beginning of the year.

Georgia Tech vs Colorado Pick, Betting Analysis
Experience and continuity are always important in college football, but it feels even more critical at the beginning of the season.
The difference in returning production from these two teams is night and day, and I think that gives the Yellow Jackets a real advantage in this one.
Yes, I understand that Folsom Field will be rocking for opening night, but I have a ton of trust in King to go into a hostile environment and lead his team up and down the field.
Colorado will not be able to keep pace. It's the inferior team from a talent standpoint, and its core has had no real reps when the bright lights are shining.
Give me the Ramblin' Wreck to win and cover in Boulder.
Pick: Georgia Tech -4.5
