Indiana vs Penn State College Football Betting Preview
Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview: Hoosier Daddy?
What a season it’s been in Bloomington. What head coach Curt Cignetti did last season was amazing, but the Hoosiers are legitimately a power program in college football.
I never thought I’d see the day.
Quarterback Fernando Mendoza has quickly ascended to one of the best quarterbacks in the nation after two seasons at Cal.
Now at Indiana, he’s completing passes at an astonishing 72.3% rate, and has a nearly immaculate touchdown-to-interception ratio.
And what a receiver corps he has to throw to.
Omar Cooper and Elijah Sarratt have teamed up to be one of the best receiver duos in college football. Both have registered over 600 yards, with Sarratt holding a Big Ten-leading 10 touchdowns through the air.
Not just that, the rushing duo of Kaelon Black and Roman Hemby has been dynamic, helping the Hoosiers achieve the 24th-best Success Rate.
Defensively, Indiana can be a little inconsistent, though. Even though it ranks third in points per game allowed, it’s actually terrible at letting up explosive plays.
The Hoosiers do a great job at limiting basic plays, but anything over 20 yards can be a toss-up.
Louis Moore is one of the better defensive backs in the country, leading all of the FBS with five interceptions, and Amare Ferrell is a coverage monster. But the problem is, if a receiver can get past them, it’s likely to convert.
Penn State Nittany Lions Betting Preview: A Sad Valley
Happy Valley isn’t so happy anymore.
The Nittany Lions have suffered straight losses, fired their head coach, lost their starting quarterback for the whole season. And two of their top head coaching candidates pulled themselves out of the running.
Drew Allar’s replacement, redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer, has been a bit of a mess, completing passes at a 62% rate and throwing three interceptions in 2.5 games.
He did, however, seem a tad more confident against Ohio State last week.
But what exactly is going on with Nick Singleton?
The senior running back was supposed to have an even bigger season than last year, when he ran for just under 1,100 yards. But this year, it’s been a struggle, as he’s rushing for 3.6 yards per carry.
It’s been the Kaytron Allen Show all season for the Penn State backfield. He has received the bulk of the carries and has done an admirable job, averaging 5.8 yards per carry and 10 touchdowns.
All things considered, this is still a solid defensive team, which was always former head coach James Franklin’s specialty. The offense may be a black hole with Allar gone, but the Nittany Lions rank 10th in Havoc allowed.

Indiana vs Penn State Pick, Betting Analysis
This seems like a very generous spread.
Maybe because it’s 14.5, because this game is in Happy Valley, but the vibes couldn’t be lower for Penn State’s football program this season.
And given that Indiana has essentially stomped every team it has played this season, I just feel like a similar outcome is going to happen.
Indiana beat Oregon a few weeks back in Eugene by 10 points. It just seems unfathomable to me that a Grunkemeyer-led Penn State team can stifle a red-hot Hoosiers program.
I have Hoosier fever, and the only cure for me is for Indiana to cover the spread.
Pick: Indiana -14.5
