Sharps went 2-1 with their Thursday night plays, as Toledo (+5) and Georgia Tech (+3) both covered and won straight up.
Tonight, wiseguys are staying up late and getting down on a pair of spreads in the PAC-12 (10 p.m. ET) and Mountain West (10:30 p.m. ET).
Betting Terms to Know
Steam Move: Sudden, drastic and uniform line movement across the market caused by an overload of sharp action from respected players.
Reverse Line Movement: When the betting line moves in the opposite direction of the betting percentages. It’s a top smart money indicator.
Line Freeze: When one side is getting heavy betting, but the line won’t budge, indicating sharp liability on the other side.
Juice: The tax or commission that bettors must pay sportsbooks in order for them to accept your wager. A -115 juice means a bettor would have to wager $115 to win $100.
Wyoming at Colorado State
10 p.m. ET
Sharp angle: Wyoming (moved from +2 to -2.5)
Recreational bettors love favorites (especially on short spreads), home teams and teams with better won-loss records than their opponents. Colorado State fits the mold tonight.
The Rams might be 3-5, but they're at home against 2-6 Wyoming.
However, despite 60% of bets taking the Rams, the line has completely flipped from Colorado State -2 to +2.5. In cases such as this, recreational bettors double down Colorado State, knowing they can now get their original play at a better number.
But wiseguys know when it looks too good to be true, it always is.
The Cowboys also enjoy a massive smart money discrepancy — they're getting only 40% of bets but 62% of dollars.
This overload of sharp action has pushed Wyoming from a dog to a favorite.
Utah at UCLA
10:30 p.m. ET
Sharp angle: UCLA (+10.5)
Chip Kelly and the Bruins are 2-5 on the season, but they've played better as of late, winning two straight against Arizona and Cal. Average Joes still want nothing to do with UCLA, even though it's at home and getting big points.
In the most lopsided game of the night, nearly 75% of bets are laying the points with Utah (5-2). However, despite this heavy public support, the line has remained frozen at Utes -10.5.
In fact, it's even dropped to -10 throughout the day. Not once has it touched -11. This indicates liability on the home dog, with bookmakers reluctant to hand out even an extra half-point to wiseguy Bruins backers.
With all of these moves coming at +10.5, wiseguys are signaling that the hook is crucial in this one, especially with 10 being a top key number.
