The Cal Golden Bears head to Blacksburg, Virginia, to face Virginia Tech after a bounce-back win over North Carolina, looking to prove they can handle one of college football’s toughest road environments in Lane Stadium.

The Bears rely on a pass-heavy offense that’s been inconsistent, but they could find success against Virginia Tech. The Hokies, meanwhile, are desperate to halt a two-game skid and revive a 2-5 campaign.

Let's take a look at my Virginia Tech vs. Cal picks and college football parlay for Friday, Oct. 24.

Moneyline Pick: Virginia Tech ML

The 2025 season has been disappointing for the Hokies, but I love this spot for them tonight.

Virginia Tech enters as a surprising six-point favorite despite its 2-5 record. The Hokies have faced a fairly tough schedule, suffering losses to South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt.

Meanwhile, Cal is 5-2 but has yet to beat a quality opponent outside of Minnesota. I expect Cal’s offense to struggle tonight and its defense to have trouble stopping Virginia Tech’s rushing attack.

Virginia Tech Player Prop Pick: Kyron Drones Over 12.5 Rush Attempts

Drones is known for his dual-threat ability and leads the team with 92 rushing attempts.

The expected game script favors this prop, as I anticipate Virginia Tech will play with a lead, giving Drones more opportunities to run the ball.

He has gone over this number in four of his seven games this season, and our Action PRO Report projects him at 14.6 rushing attempts.

When parlayed, these picks payout north of 2-1. So, with a game script that complements Drones' rushing propensity, we'll play the over and Hokies moneyline.
