Wisconsin vs UCLA College Football Preview
Wisconsin Badgers Betting Preview: Scrappy Badgers
The Badgers have been on an absolute tear, winning four consecutive contests following an understandable Week 1 loss to one of the best teams in the country in Notre Dame.
Senior quarterback Colton Joseph has stepped up in a big way as the team’s leader and has rallied the rest of Luke Fickell’s Badgers, who are finally starting to play with confidence.
The Old Dominion transfer has thrown for 1,132 yards and 10 touchdowns this season and will have another opportunity to shine on Saturday night against a volatile UCLA defense.
Joseph boasts impressive dual-threat prowess, with 226 yards on the ground and three rushing touchdowns in Wisconsin’s last three games.
However, it's a bit concerning that Joseph leads the team in rushing considering this is a program renowned for its ability to establish the run over the last decade-plus.
While running backs Darrion Dupree and Abu Sama III have both seen steady volume out of this Wisconsin backfield, neither has surpassed Joseph in total output.
Fifth-year wide receiver Tyrell Henry leads an experienced Badger receiving corps with 26 receptions for 339 yards but has managed to find the end zone just once.
That said, Joseph has several other reliable targets at his disposal, like tight end Jacob Harris and wideout Chris Brooks Jr.
Fickell’s defense is the far superior unit for this Wisconsin team, with its first five opponents this season averaging just 16.6 points per game, which ranks 24th in the country.
Aside from its Week 1 loss to Notre Dame, UCLA will definitely be the toughest challenge the Badgers defense has faced.

UCLA Bruins Betting Preview: No Nico, No Problem
UCLA entered a major rebuilding phase heading into the 2026 season under new head coach Bob Chesney following his phenomenal run at James Madison, where he led the Dukes to the College Football Playoff last year.
Chesney brought quite a few members of his coaching staff with him to UCLA, namely offensive coordinator Dean Kennedy and defensive coordinator Colin Hitschler.
For many convinced that UCLA’s 4-0 start to the 2026 season was merely a result of a weak strength of schedule, the naysayers were finally quieted last weekend, as the Bruins dominated a talented Oregon squad in a true conference road game in Eugene.
The biggest headline for UCLA heading into its Week 7 matchup with Wisconsin is undoubtedly the injury to quarterback Nico Iamaleava, who's now expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season with a torn ACL.
In his stead, UCLA backup QB Ty Dieffenbach finished the second half in relatively impressive fashion, ultimately leading the Bruins to the massive upset.
While many perceive Nico’s injury as a detrimental roadblock to the Bruins’ College Football Playoff quest this season, he was largely unimpressive at both Tennessee and UCLA.
Prior to suffering his season-ending knee injury, Iamaleava had thrown just four passing touchdowns all year and has been extremely susceptible to turning the ball over, with six turnovers in UCLA’s first five games.
On the bright side, running back Wayne Knight has been phenomenal for Chesney’s rushing attack, racking up 548 yards on the ground and scoring 10 touchdowns in the process.
Knight boasts an impressive 7.7 yards per carry this season, which ranks inside the top 10 among all FBS running backs.
Knight was just one of several key players Chesney brought along with him to UCLA, and leads a versatile backfield that also features the likes of Anthony Woods and Jaivian Thomas.
While UCLA could certainly use some improvements on the defensive side of the ball, I still have faith in a very well-coached Bruin bunch with Dieffenbach now under center.

Wisconsin vs UCLA Pick, Betting Analysis
We're in for a stellar matchup on Saturday evening between two Big Ten foes, both of whom enter Week 7’s matchup in red-hot form over the last several weeks.
While Wisconsin boasts an elite secondary that ranks ninth in the country, allowing just over 150 passing yards per game, the Badgers’ defensive unit has proven to be far more vulnerable against the run.
Expect Wisconsin’s defensive efficiency to decrease a bit against a UCLA offense that relies heavily on its rushing attack, which could be even further exacerbated given Iamaleava's season-ending injury.
The Bruins have one of the most dominant ground games in all of college football, ranking sixth nationally while racking up over 253 rushing yards per contest.
Chesney’s offense is structured to exploit a weak Badgers’ front seven, and I fully expect the former JMU head coach to bypass Wisconsin’s elite secondary by merely pounding the rock for all four quarters.
This is an extremely well-coached UCLA squad that holds a substantial schematic edge and will get the benefit of playing in front of a packed home crowd on Saturday night.
That said, I feel confident backing the Bruins to cover the -2.5 spread as the primary handicap ahead of Saturday night’s Big Ten showdown.
Pick: UCLA -2.5
