Wyoming vs Hawaii Preview
Wyoming Cowboys Betting Preview: Limited All Season
Wyoming has battled through a disappointing 4-7 season in which the offense never found continuity and was really limited by injuries and poor quarterback play.
The Pokes have been one of the least proficient offenses in FBS this season while averaging just 4.9 yards per play. Wyoming has struggled in the red zone while only scoring 13 redzone touchdowns this season and the offensive line has allowed far too many negative havoc plays against them.
The Cowboy defense has played pretty well this season and has kept Wyoming in lower-scoring games this season. Many of the opponents Wyoming has faced have not been equipped with strong passing attacks and so the secondary has not been stressed the way it could be here against Hawaii.
The Pokes struggle to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks, having registered just 17 sacks this season, including three combined over their last five games.
I would expect this to be a tough assignment this week on the Island against the Hawaii run-and-shoot offense.
Hawai'i Warriors Betting Preview: Won't Bow Down
Hawaii was embarrassed last week on the road at UNLV, but the season has still been a success for Timmy Chang and the Rainbow Warriors this year.
Hawaii is bowl eligible and is looking to cap off its season with a home win on senior night for the third straight season. Micah Alejado has this offense rolling and he has played much better since having a full complement of receivers back from injury.
I would expect Hawaii to have success here at home against the Wyoming defense in this one.
The Hawaii defense is a very underrated group that has stepped up on numerous occasions at home this season.
The Bows stop unit has stifled every opponent they have faced at home and the defensive front has done well to create havoc while registering 26 sacks and 55 tackles for loss this year.
Wyoming is coming into this one without some of its offensive playmakers, so I would expect Hawaii to have another strong defensive performance here.

Wyoming vs Hawaii Pick, Betting Analysis
This line opened Hawaii -11.5 and has been bet down this week, shockingly. I don’t agree with the move and I am going to lay -7.5 with Hawaii.
I am struggling to find motivation for Wyoming to show up here in this game. Their season is over, and they are not bowl-eligible with a win. This season has not been an overwhelming success for the Pokes and the injury list is starting to include some very important pieces.
Wyoming is set to be without star receiver Chris Durr Jr in this game, along with running backs Samuel Harris and Terron Kellmen.
This is a huge blow to the offensive attack as Durr was the Cowboys' leading receiver this season and their most explosive deep threat. Without him, I cannot imagine this passing attack having much of a punch, as their second leading receiver has just 227 receiving yards all season.
Defensively, Hawaii is 48th nationally in defensive pass play success rate and 20th in preventing explosive passes. We should not see much in the way of efficient passing success here for Wyoming.
This is going to cause the Pokes to have to keep it on the ground and without two of their best running backs, the offense should struggle to stack successful plays together and move the ball.
Wyoming has not played many proficient passing attacks this season, but I want to look at their matchup with San Jose State, which runs a similar pass-happy offense to Hawaii’s.
The Spartans were able to throw the ball all over Wyoming and San Jose State scored four touchdowns before the second quarter was halfway over when their starting quarterback and best receiver were lost due to injury.
I am not confident in the Wyoming secondary being able to cover the Hawaii receivers and I don’t think the front seven will get enough pressure on Alejado to rattle him.
Hawaii should pass the ball all over this secondary and without being fully equipped with their offensive weapons, Wyoming is not going to be able to keep up.
Stay up late and lay it with the Bows at home.
Pick: Hawai'i -7.5
