Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors 2026 Season Preview

Hawaii went 9-4 last season and 5-3 in the Mountain West, then beat California 35-31 in the Hawaii Bowl. That was the program's first winning season since 2020 and its first nine-win year since 2019.

The turnaround took time. Timmy Chang won 13 games total across his first three seasons, and nine of those losses were by one score. He is now in year five and signed a contract through 2030. Both coordinators stayed as Anthony Arceneaux calls the offense for a second season and Dennis Thurman runs the defense for a third.

Quarterback Micah Alejado is the main reason expectations moved. He threw for 3,106 yards and 24 touchdowns against nine interceptions, playing most of the year through an ankle injury. He was the conference's Freshman of the Year and is now its Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. His top receiver, Pofele Ashlock, is back after 76 catches. Both return to help the Rainbow Warriors this season.

The rest of the roster turned over. Hawaii replaces 17 starters and brought in 16 transfers, so keep that in mind while reading Rainbow Warriors prices for the 2026 college football season. One big loss matters however, the kicker Kansei Matsuzawa made 27 of 29 field goals last year, has gone, leaving their special teams weaker than last season.

Betting point spreads basically means that you are betting on whether a team will win or lose by a certain number of points. Here’s an example:

• Hawai'i -3.5 (-140)
• Delaware State +3.5 (+110)

In this situation, Hawai'i are favored by 3.5 points against Delaware State. If Hawai'i wins the game by four or more points, a $100 wager on the Rainbow Warriors would yield $71.45 in profit. A futures bet settles at the end of the season rather than after one game. Two matter this season for any Rainbow Warrior fans.
