The travel spot is why this is below 6. That’s where I’d have it in a normal situation that doesnt include back to back travel spots that involve going to Hawaii. But I trust Dan Mullen as a coach to know he’ll have his team focused and ready to go. It helps that they should be able to just run the football. Windy conditions necessitated that last week out in the Pacific, and they ran it 43 times for 248 yards and three touchdowns. What happens when you cut down on dropbacks for Jackson Arnold? fewer sacks. he only took one after taking 6 in the season opener. Speaking of season openers, some optimism for UNT after Morris/Mestmaker split town on offense. Tayven Jackson played well given the opponent. And the running game moved people, 152 on the ground against IU is nothing to sneeze at. But the pass defense was just awful. 14.4 yards per attempt for Hoover who was playing through a busted up face, bleeding like a stuffed pig. Didn’t matter, 13/16, 231, 4 TDs. They slowed the run but at a cost. And that’s where I think UNLV kills them here. Jet Thomas, home run hitter at RB. Kayden McGee looks good in Year 2, popping big plays. UNT is sitting at 126th nationally after week 1 in coverage per PFF, and I think Dan Mullen can scheme up some big plays here.

UNLV Rebels Odds & Betting Guide — 2026-27 Season

UNLV has quietly become one of the best turnaround stories in the sport. After 18 losing seasons in 19 years before Barry Odom arrived in 2023, the Rebels have now won 30 games over the last three seasons combined. Dan Mullen took over in 2025 and immediately delivered a 10-4 record, a first-place regular-season finish in the Mountain West, the program's first 6-0 start since 1974, and its first-ever season beating every non-conference opponent, including a win over UCLA. Mullen was named Steve Spurrier First-Year Coach of the Year for the performance. Most college football power ratings now have UNLV among the top contenders in its new-look conference.

The one thing missing is a Mountain West championship, and the obstacle has been specific: UNLV has now lost three straight conference title games, all to Boise State. That obstacle is gone this season, as Boise State departed for the rebuilt Pac-12 along with several other MW contenders. Both coordinators are back, offensive coordinator Corey Dennis, whose unit led the conference in total offense and scoring in 2025, and defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, who had the interim tag removed after steadying a defense that took over from Odom's staff.

The offense's biggest question is at quarterback. Anthony Colandrea, last year's efficient starter, transferred to Nebraska, and Mullen brought in Jackson Arnold, a former five-star recruit who started games at both Oklahoma and Auburn, to compete with returning backup Alex Orji, a Michigan transfer. As of the most recent reporting, Mullen had not named a starter. Running back Jai'Den Thomas gives the offense a proven anchor regardless of who wins that job, having rushed for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns on close to seven yards per carry in 2025, with legitimate Mountain West Player of the Year upside.

UNLV & the Mountain West

The Mountain West UNLV plays in this season looks nothing like the one it just competed in. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, and Utah State all left for the rebuilt Pac-12, and the conference added North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, and UTEP, settling at 10 teams. For UNLV specifically, that means the one program that ended its season three years running is gone.

New Mexico steps into that vacancy as UNLV's closest competition, tying for the conference's best record a year ago and beating the Rebels as a 3.5-point underdog in their regular-season meeting. UNLV has to travel to Albuquerque again this season, making that specific matchup one of the more consequential games on the schedule for the conference race.

UNLV 2026 futures odds

UNLV's win total is reported between 7.5 and 8.5 depending on the book, with some plus-money available on the over at the higher number. The Rebels sit in a near dead-heat with New Mexico for futures favorite to win the Mountain West, recently around +320 at Circa Sports with New Mexico at +270. UNLV's odds to reach the College Football Playoff sit around +1000, notably shorter than New Mexico's, reflecting UNLV's deeper roster talent even with the closer conference title odds.

If you'd rather trade UNLV's outlook than bet a fixed number while the quarterback battle resolves, Kalshi and Polymarket both list Mountain West and win-total contracts that move with the news. You can find a Kalshi promo code and a Polymarket promo code on our promo pages, and our college football prediction market promos page tracks current offers.

The UNLV angle: the single biggest reason UNLV hasn't won a Mountain West title, Boise State, is a specific, removable variable, not vague conference-wide uncertainty. That's a genuinely different situation than most "conference got easier" stories, since it's one identifiable opponent rather than a general talent downgrade across the league. Worth weighing how much of UNLV's improved title odds should be credited to that one change specifically.

Betting the UNLV moneyline

The moneyline is a bet on the winner, no margin involved. To illustrate: if UNLV were priced at -170 against a Mountain West opponent and the underdog at +145, converting to implied probability puts UNLV around 63% and the underdog around 40.8%, summing to roughly 103.8%. That extra few points is the sportsbook's built-in margin, not a signal about which side is more likely to win.

Worth a direct correction here: a short price on a favorite isn't automatically "less value," and a long price on an underdog isn't automatically "more value." Value depends on whether the number matches the true odds of the outcome, not on how the price looks. Uneven juice tells you where money is landing relative to the book's line, not which side is correct.

Compare current odds across books with an odds calculator before betting anything, particularly early in the season while the quarterback situation settles. If you're shopping new sportsbook accounts, the bet365 bonus code is one option worth checking, and our college football betting promos page tracks other current offers.

Betting UNLV point spreads

The spread sets a margin rather than just a winner. Betting UNLV to cover as a favorite means the Rebels need to win by more than the number; betting them as an underdog, which will be rare given the roster, means they need to either win outright or lose by less than the number.

UNLV's offense has been productive enough in recent years to cover most spreads on talent alone, but the defense allowed nearly 420 yards and 28 points per game in 2025. Track how that unit performs against the ATS standings early, since a defense that struggled last year hasn't necessarily fixed itself just because the coordinator stayed on.

Why the quarterback battle matters for UNLV spreads: Jackson Arnold and Alex Orji represent different levels of proven production, and whichever wins the job will shape how aggressively UNLV can attack a spread through the air. A team with this much continuity everywhere else, coordinators, running back, defensive personnel, still has one real swing variable at the position that determines the most points. Check our projections once the starter is confirmed.

If you're comparing odds formats across books or exchanges while tracking UNLV through the season, the prediction markets odds converter is a quick way to translate between American, decimal, and share-price formats.

Betting the UNLV total

The total, or over/under, is a bet on the combined score rather than the winner. UNLV's offense led the Mountain West in scoring a year ago, but a defense that gave up nearly 28 points per game means totals involving the Rebels could run high regardless of who wins the quarterback job.

Check betting splits to see where public money is landing on UNLV totals, since the public may be slower than the market to price in the defense's ongoing struggles relative to the offense's ceiling. Our expert picks break down specific total calls each week as the season develops.

UNLV player props

Player props are limited in college football, and availability varies by state. Jai'Den Thomas's rushing and receiving props are likely to be some of the more reliably priced markets on the board given his three-year track record, while any props tied to the quarterback position carry real uncertainty until the starting job is settled.

Where player props aren't available for a specific game or the market is too thin to trust, game-level markets like first-half winner or team total remain a way to get exposure to a UNLV game without needing a settled read on the passing attack.
