Monday Night Football Preview
I believe there's a disconnect between who the Cardinals are and how they are perceived due to their record.
Arizona enters Monday Night Football with a 2-5 record after five straight losses, but it easily could be sitting 4-3 on the season.
The Cardinals have a -1 point differential on the season, which is better than a number of teams in the league that sport winning records.
Let's take a closer look at the Cardinals' last five losses:
- at 49ers (16-15 final score): dropped a wide-open pass to seal that victory
- vs. Seahawks (23-20): lost on a last-second field goal after a botched kickoff
- vs. Titans (22-21): dropped TD at goal line to go up 28-6 then allowed a TD on a fumbled interception
- at Colts (31-27): with a number of injuries across the board
- vs. Packers (27-23): led by seven points in the fourth quarter
Outside of one of the most improbable losses you'll ever see against Tennessee, those games have all come against projected playoff teams.
Arizona hasn't lost a game by more than four points all season! The last two in particular are especially encouraging as they came against two of the best teams in the league with Jacoby Brissett at the helm.
With Jacoby Brissett set to make another start in place of Kyler Murray, I like the Cardinals at a field goal or better on the road. Brissett has honestly looked like the superior option thus far.
No team needed a bye week more than Arizona after such a string of devastating losses. It also allowed the Cardinals time to heal up on both sides of the ball.
The Cardinals secondary has had to deal with a slew of injuries; the offense has also been unfortunate on that end. I still believe this is a very sharp coaching staff that should benefit from the extra time to prepare for one of the simplest (and worst) defenses in the league.
The Cardinals also have a ton of familiarity with what Dallas is doing offensively under new coordinator Klayton Adams, who has rejuvenated the Cowboys rushing attack after departing Arizona in the offseason.
Cardinals vs Cowboys Prediction, Spread Pick
The Cowboys is an absolute wagon at home. I expect them to bounce back tonight after last week's disappointing effort in Denver.
However, the Cardinals are capable of limiting explosive plays and making the Cowboys work for it. More importantly, I just don't trust the Dallas defense (that now has even more injuries) to get stops against any offense in the league at the moment.
As a result, this one should remain competitive throughout and likely come down to which team has the ball last, which has been and will likely continue to be a theme for both of these squads in 2025.
Pick: Cardinals +3.5 (-122)
Spread
The Cardinals have kept games close all season, and I expect that continue tonight. My pick is the Cardinals to cover.
Moneyline
While I like the Cardinals on the spread, I'm passing on their moneyline.
Over/Under
I have no pick for the game total.
