Falcons vs Jets NFL Week 13 Preview

These are just two bad teams.

Don't let the final score fool you — I wasn't impressed at all with the Falcons' win over the Saints last week. The Saints got stopped twice at the goal line, and missed two easy field goals.

Kirk Cousins threw a pick-six in that game, and now he's playing outdoors for this one — not to mention Drake London will be out again.

On the defense, Billy Bowman Jr. went on the IR, and the offensive line is just mangled.

In a game like this where it's two bad teams playing each other outdoors, I think having a mobile quarterback like Tyrod Taylor may prove to be very beneficial versus a guy anchored in the pocket like Cousins, who there’s now another week of tape on.

Cousins has hit a couple of explosive plays so far, but he didn't do much in that Saints game. This is essentially a pick‘em spread for me.

The Jets offense is trending slightly up, just because they’ve get their new receivers acclimated; John Metchie III has given them two straight weeks of something to mix and match. And with the other guys on that offense, they liked Taylor to throw down the field a little bit more than they did with Justin Fields.

The Jets still have to get through the Falcons defense. That unit stopped the Saints completely on the ground last week.

Falcons vs Jets Prediction, Betting Analysis

I think the Jets can run the football. Their offensive identity is to run it. They'll be able to run it a little better then the Saints were able to, maybe even a lot better.

We've seen this Falcons defense get ripped up in the run game before. Having Divine Deablo is huge, but this is an outdoor game with two pretty much equally bad teams.

Public opinion is down on the Jets, and the Falcons are coming off a win, but we'll take New York +2.5 for the contest.

I'm still not buying the Falcons with Cousins under center and no London.

The markets are saying that the Falcons are now are four points better than the Jets. I just don’t see it.

Cousins needs to show me a lot more in order to warrant that number. He only threw 23 times last week, he's still stiff and old, and now he's outdoors.

Give me the Jets, who surprisingly outgained Baltimore last week by +0.7 net yards per play.

Pick: Jets +2.5 (-110)
