Falcons vs Bills Preview, Parlay Picks

1st Half Under 24.5

While this matchup features plenty of playmakers and stars on the offensive side of the ball, there are a few crucial things working against each offense in the early portion of this matchup.
The first being the opposing defenses.
Both the Bills and Falcons have been excellent at defending the pass — they are each in the top 10 in opponent completion percentage, yards per pass and sack rate.
That should amplify each of these offenses' tendencies, which is to keep the ball on the ground.
The Bills run the ball more than any other team in the NFL, and the Falcons are not far behind, as they are fifth in rush rate.
In addition, both of these offenses are methodical in pace. Atlanta is 24th in seconds per play, and Buffalo is 30th.
Unless the running backs break big runs, we should see time dwindle fast in the first half with each of these teams moving down the field while keeping the ball on the ground.

Josh Allen Anytime Touchdown

Speaking of the ground game, one man heavily involved in the Bills' rushing attack is quarterback Josh Allen.
Allen has accounted for nearly 25% of the Bills' rushing share this season, and his attempts only go up in the red zone. He is a weapon the Bills must utilize in the red zone and in goal-to-go situations.
Atlanta has been stout against opposing running backs in the red zone and is fourth in rushing touchdowns allowed this season.
However, stopping Allen is a whole different puzzle to solve as he's automatic with the quarterback sneak and has the size to plow his way into the end zone on a designed run.
We should see him find paydirt tonight as he's had just seven fewer red-zone rushing attempts than running back James Cook, who will be the primary focus of the Falcons.

Michael Penix Jr. Under 7.5 Rushing Yards

We're going to stay on the ground, but switch sides and target Falcons' quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
He hasn't gotten off to the greatest of starts in his sophomore season, as he ranks 28th in completion percentage and 15th in yards per pass.
His ineffectiveness has caused the Falcons to lean on their running game, which isn't a bad idea with Bijan Robinson, but their poor passing attack has led to trailing game scripts, and that's likely again tonight.
Penix has been a prototypical pocket passer since his days at Washington, and we have not seen much mobility out of him this season. He has averaged just 3.3 rush attempts per game and is picking up just 1.9 yards per attempt.
Look for the Bills' elite pass rush to contain Penix and keep him under this total for the third time this season.
