Texans vs. Panthers

Sunday, Oct. 29
1 p.m. ET
Texans -3

By Ricky Henne

Over 89% of all bets and a whopping 97% of the money have already poured in on Houston as three-point favorites in Carolina.

You better believe I’m among them.

I’m struggling to see why the Texans are only giving up a field goal. The Panthers look foolish thus far for picking Bryce Young first overall instead of C.J. Stroud. Houston is thrilled that they did, though, as Stroud’s a heavy favorite for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The Texans’ offense ranks 11th in total DVOA and sixth in pass DVOA while the Panthers are 31st and 29th, respectively.

Additionally, Carolina is the only team that hasn’t covered a spread all year, going 0-5-1. It’s not only that they’ve failed to cover, though. It’s that they haven’t been close, falling short by an average of seven points. Meanwhile, the Texans have covered four straight games by an average of 16 points.

With so much money coming in on the Texans, it’s reasonable to think the line might move rather quickly. I’m thrilled I locked it in at the key number of three.

Browns vs. Seahawks

Sunday, Oct. 29
4:05 p.m. ET
Seahawks -2.5

By Brandon Anderson

The Browns played an odd game this week. The under was a popular pick, but the over hit before halftime. Both teams almost went over the game total of 41 by themselves.

Deshaun Watson was 1-of-5 with an interception before entering concussion protocol, which he cleared but didn't return. P.J. Walker filled in and completed less than 50% of his passes and committed two turnovers.

This impressive Browns defense allowed nine plays of 17 or more yards to the Colts. Myles Garrett generated a lot of Cleveland's points with his incredible play.

Overall, it was a second straight undeserved win for Cleveland to reach 4-2.

Seattle, meanwhile, delivered a dominant defensive performance against the Cardinals to get that unit on track. The Seahawks won by double digits despite losing the turnover battle 3-0, an interception at the 1-yard line and a field goal from the 1.

Believe it or not, the Seahawks defense entered Sunday ranked first in the NFL in EPA allowed per play over the last week. That's the unit that's hot instead of the Browns defense.

Seattle's offense might be able to produce if the offensive line can hold up, but it's the Browns offense that has question markets. Cleveland will be facing the No. 1 run defense, according to DVOA.

This opened at Seahawks -1.5, so let's grab it before it hits the key number of -3.

NFL Week 8 Teaser: Ravens -8 & Lions -7.5

Sunday, Oct. 29
4:25 p.m. ET
Ravens -8
Monday, Oct. 30
8:20 p.m. ET
Lions -7.5

By Brandon Anderson

The Ravens demolished the Lions in Week 7, so I don't have to spend much time selling you on them. Lamar Jackson played a near-perfect game and may obliterate the Cardinals' 31st-ranked (according to DVOA) defense.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, have seen their bubble burst since a Week 3 upset of the Cowboys. They're back to being a bottom-five team in the NFL, as we expected them to be before the season. That side of the tease is straightforward.

The Lions were crushed, but it was a bad spot for Jared Goff playing outdoors in windy conditions without his bellcow RB in David Montgomery. This, though, is a good spot for him to bounce back.

The Raiders lost to Bears backup QB Tyson Bagent in his NFL debut and allowed three touchdowns to D'Onta Foreman. They only gained 235 yards and proved themselves to be a sham of a three-win team.

The Lions are a different animal at home, and this will be a special event as only the second time they'll be hosting a Monday Night Football game since 2014.

Detroit was the No. 1 team in my power rankings last week and will be fine.

It wouldn't shock me if either of these lines get to -9, so we'll cover our bases and tease both. This is the "just win, baby" tease, as we're hoping both win by a field goal.

Tease: Ravens -2 & Lions -1.5
