Seahawks vs Titans NFL Preseason Preview
The Seahawks lost 17-7 against the Cowboys in their preseason opener.
Starting quarterback Sam Darnold did not play, so Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe shared reps under center. Other starters, including Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jadarian Price, also did not suit up for that game.
Expect to see more of the same from the defending Super Bowl champions in their Week 2 matchup vs. the Titans.
The Titans beat the 49ers 19-13 in Week 1 of the preseason.
Cam Ward was unimpressive, completing 5-of-12 passes for 57 yards. He's likely going to get another look in Week 2, as the second-year signal-caller desperately needs in-game reps.
I'll be interested to see how first-round rookie wideout Carnell Tate looks in this game. He's been banged up, dealing with stiffness, but he's expected to see some action here.
Seahawks vs Titans Prediction, Betting Analysis
The Titans are 4.5-point favorites over the defending Super Bowl champions because they're expected to play their starters, while the Seahawks are rolling with their backups.
This makes sense because the Titans are still a rebuilding team, looking to evaluate their roster, especially with a new coaching staff led by Robert Saleh.
Tennessee has the edge in quarterback depth with Cam Ward, Mitchell Trubisky, and Will Levis over Jalen Milroe and Drew Lock. Even though 4.5 points is a lot, the advantage of starters vs. backups is too much for me to pass up here.
We didn't see Ward connect with rookie wideout Carnell Tate in their preseason opener. I'd expect that to be a point of emphasis for the Titans in this game.
Bet on Tennessee to win by 5+ points.
Pick:Titans -4.5
Spread
Despite the Titans being the vastly inferior team on paper, they're favored by 4.5 points, which says a lot. Oddsmakers give them a significant edge, with their starters facing the Seahawks' backups.
Moneyline
I'm not willing to lay -200 odds on a preseason game, so if you like the Titans as I do, just take the points.
Over/Under
The total is reasonable for a preseason game at 37.5, but taking the Titans -4.5 feels like the safer play.
