Eagles vs Chiefs NFL Week 2 Preview

Against my better judgement, I'm taking the Chiefs over the Eagles in this spot.

I'm sure you've already heard all the stats about home underdogs entering Week 2.

Home underdogs in Week 2 facing a team coming off a win have hit at a 54% ATS clip over the past two decades. Divisional home underdogs in Weeks 1-3 have hit at a 63% rate over that same timeframe.

But for me, what it all really boils down to is I don't see the Chiefs going down 0-2 to start the season.

There are plenty of reasons to believe that Kansas City may be a little bit vulnerable this season. The Chiefs were incredibly lucky last year, managing to string together a perfect record of 12-0 in one-possession games, including the playoffs.

However, Kansas City's magical run of victories in one-score games came to a screeching halt in its first matchup of this season, losing to the Chargers by a score of 27-21 in Brazil.

Listen, the Chiefs aren't as good as they were when they were at their peak with prime Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, especially with all of the injuries they are currently nursing at the moment.

However, we're still talking about a Chiefs team that has been to three straight Super Bowls — a team that is 89-24 in games started by Patrick Mahomes.

Last week's game was a weird matchup in a foreign country against a tough division rival, and the Chiefs only lost by one score. There's no need to sound the panic alarms. They will be fine, and I expect to see them bounce back in a highly anticipated home rematch against Philadelphia.

Last week's game could've even been considered a lookahead spot for Kansas City, as weird as that may seem for a Week 1 matchup.

On the flip side, the Eagles lost their offensive coordinator as Kellen Moore took the head coaching job for the Saints.

And while they managed to retain defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, their defense lost seven key players over the offseason, resulting in a much different look on that side of the ball.

Eagles vs Chiefs Prediction, Betting Analysis

I'm taking the Chiefs as short home underdogs against Philadelphia in Week 2.

This is not the same Eagles defense that shut out the Chiefs in the first half of last year's Super Bowl. In fact, they are actually missing half of last year's unit.

Aside from the linebackers, I didn't think the Eagles defense looked very good against Dallas in Week 1.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense managed to generate 20 points on 307 total yards against Philly. And, quite frankly, those numbers would be even higher if it wasn't for a few crucial drops by CeeDee Lamb late in the game.

The questions we've always had about the Eagles offense remain the same. The questions surrounding the defense only seem to be looming larger. I think we'll see the Chiefs find a way to get it done here.

This Philadelphia team is no unstoppable force, and I expect Kansas City to remind us of that.

Pick: Chiefs Moneyline (+100)

Spread

I prefer the moneyline market as opposed to the spread in this spot.

Moneyline

My Chiefs vs. Eagles betting prediction is on Kansas City to win outright on the moneyline.

Over/Under

I'm not betting either side of the total in this contest.
