It's Monday again, but don't get down. The start of the workweek also brings multiple opportunities to trade on a variety of Kalshi markets.
From the future of the Bond franchise to the Brazilian presidential election, in this article we present five intriguing markets to help you plan your weekly trading strategy.
Let’s dive in.
Next Bond Girl: Anya Taylor-Joy or Margaret Qualley?
Casting a new era in Bond franchise history is always a major cultural event. While the central debate naturally revolves around who will play the next 007, prediction markets are also eyeing which Hollywood actress will step into the role of the next Bond girl.
In recent hours, Anya Taylor-Joy's shares saw a massive surge, peaking at an all-time high of a 65% probability. While Taylor-Joy is a solid, entirely logical contender, Margaret Qualley's 31% valuation feels far too low given her profile, creating a prime opportunity to buy Yes shares at a genuine bargain.
According to the latest reports, casting is entering its final stretch, meaning we'll soon find out which actors will star in Denis Villeneuve's vision for James Bond.
Who Will Be Trump's Next Press Secretary: The Never-Ending Debate
For weeks, the debate over who will be the next White House Press Secretary has sparked massive interest among Kalshi traders. Conflicting reports, rumor mill visits, and statements from Donald Trump have fueled significant volatility in this market, making the shuffle of names downright frenetic.
The board is currently led by Scott Jennings, whose shares experienced a massive surge on August 22, peaking at a 45% chance. However, the market has since adjusted, and the gap between the candidates is narrowing.
This is a contract rife with doubts and uncertainty, so buying Yes shares seems like an excessively high risk. On the flip side, Jennings' No shares look like an attractive play this week, as his position is bound to lose momentum in the coming days. This is especially true given that just a few hours ago, he brushed off the rumors with subtle indifference, stating that he has no idea what will happen.
Some traders even argue it is unlikely Jennings would walk away from his role as a CNN political commentator, a lucrative position that cements him as a prominent opinion maker. From that perspective, taking on the role of presidential spokesperson could actually be a step backward in his career.
US Gas Prices This Week
Weekly gas prices are a major point of speculation in prediction markets. The value of this commodity hinges on a wide array of economic and environmental factors, including weather conditions. As it stands, the Kalshi board offers several opportunities, particularly if we focus on lower-risk contracts that can yield attractive returns.
Specifically, I am referring to the Above 4.100 option, which has recently lost some momentum and now has a 62% chance. It trades in a range that allows traders to acquire Yes shares at a competitive price, and the likelihood of the weekly price exceeding 4.100 remains very high.
Currently, AAA reports a national average price of $4.091 per gallon. In this market, it is useful to check prices frequently and monitor market movements to evaluate whether to hold your shares until the expiration date or cash in early.
Julian Alvarez Next Team: Buy Yes on Barcelona
The drama surrounding Julián Álvarez and Atlético Madrid is easily one of the biggest sports stories of the year. The relationship between the club and the young Argentine forward has completely broken down ever since Álvarez declared his desire to be transferred to Barcelona.
In their La Liga debut, Álvarez was loudly booed by his own fans, making it abundantly clear that the saga has deeply fractured his relationship with the home crowd. It's a lose-lose situation for everyone involved, yet no clear resolution is in sight.
Against this backdrop, prediction markets have been heavily speculating on Álvarez's future. While staying in Madrid remains the nominal baseline favorite, nothing is set in stone in a case this volatile.
Interestingly, Yes shares for a transfer to Barcelona are currently trading at a very competitive price point at 19%. Traders seem to believe a deal with the Catalan club is virtually impossible, but the reality is that the player remains adamant about his destination. Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid will soon have to face the hard reality that they need to buy a replacement striker, an investment they can only fund through a blockbuster sale like Álvarez's.
This saga still has several chapters left before the transfer window closes on September 1. For now, picking up Yes shares for Barcelona offers an intriguing option for value traders.
Brazil Presidential Election Winner
The Brazilian presidential election is just over a month away, and prediction markets surrounding the race are gaining significant traction. Incumbent President Lula da Silva is running for a historic fourth term as the nation's political leader. His primary competitors include Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, and Renan Santos.
Currently, the Kalshi board assigns a 35% probability to Flávio Bolsonaro as the main runner-up, but that appears to be an overestimation of the candidate's true chances. Polling indicates that while the gap between Lula da Silva and his contenders has narrowed, Lula maintains a concrete enough lead to make predicting an upset unlikely.
Fading Bolsonaro is the best position within this market right now.
