Everton vs Bournemouth Betting Analysis
There are high expectations surrounding Everton, which is leaving its historic home of Goodison Park for the state-of-the-art Bramley-Moore Dock stadium this season. Yet, I'm sure head coach David Moyes wished for more of that feel-good momentum to translate into signings. The Toffees weren't that far from a relegation campaign last season, but only one new face has made its way to the team — former Villarreal striker Thierno Barry.
Moyes' men started the preseason with a narrow tie against fourth division Accrington Stanley, a loss to perennial second-tier side Blackburn Rovers, and only barely beat third-division Port Vale after coming from behind.
They'll now go up against a Bournemouth side that very much had their number last season. The Cherries beat them in both league fixtures, even coming back from two goals behind at Goodison Park to win 3-2. Moyes can't even blame it all on the sacked Sean Dyche as he lost to Bournemouth himself in the FA Cup.
If there's any consolation for Everton, its how much of a weakened Bournemouth it'll face. The Cherries lost left-back Milos Kerkez to Liverpool and center-back Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, with another defender, Illia Zabarnyi, heavily linked to PSG.
That means Andoni Iraola will have his hands full to keep arguably the surprise team of the season firing on all cylinders, after it finished in a best-ever ninth-place top-flight finish last season, with 56 points. The Cherries look to have barely lost a step, however, as they beat Scottish side Hibernian 2-1 before thrashing Bristol City 6-2 last week.
While Bournemouth's weakened defense might afford Everton some chances, the truth is that the Cherries — who have scored in 10 of their past 12 competitive games — are going up against a Toffees defense that has kept just three clean sheets in their previous 15 Premier League fixtures. Considering that and the more relaxed nature of preseason friendlies, there will be multiple goals in this fixture.
