Germany will open up their Group H campaign against Morocco in an early Monday morning match of the Women's World Cup.

The National Eleven are one of the pre-tournament favorites and are massive favorites to win this match, as well as the group as a whole, which also contains Colombia and the Republic of Korea.

Germany are currently second in the FIFA rankings and have won this competition twice (2003, 2007). They reached the quarterfinals in 2019 before coming up short against Sweden.

On the other hand, this is Morocco's first-ever World Cup appearance. Their qualification came through the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, where they placed second to South Africa. The Atlas Lionesses rank 78th.

Here is a breakdown of the Germany vs Morocco Women's World Cup match.

Germany Are Historically Great

When it comes to Germany and the World Cup, the only country that hoists better stats are the United States. They are one of seven teams to have played in all nine Women's World Cups and have scored 121 tournament goals, which is only second to the USA, who boast 138. They are just one of two countries to have won multiple World Cups, with again the United States being the other.

Germany dominated World Cup Qualifying, posting nine wins out of 10 matches and scoring 47 goals while conceding only five. However, their final three exhibition matches prior to arriving in New Zealand and Australia were a bit shocking. They lost 1-2 to Brazil, had a less-than-convincing 2-1 win over Vietnam and fell to Zambia, 2-3.

That said, the European powerhouse, managed by Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, is loaded with talent and is disciplined throughout the pitch. With a roster led by Alexandra Popp, who is argued to be the most dominant striker in the women's game, the team is built for success.

The National Eleven came just short of a Euro 2022 championship, falling to England in extra time of the final. In the World Cup, their sole group stage loss came in 1995.

Morocco Hope to Make a Cinderella Run

Morocco have already made history by stamping their ticket to New Zealand and Australia. Still, despite their expectations being low, there is no doubt the Atlas Lionesses will try to put up a fight.

During their WAFCON run, they dominated possession in most matches and finished tied for first in shots on target, indicating that if they are given a chance, they have the quality to capitalize on an opportunity.

Outside of their impressive WAFCON performances, Morocco have struggled in preparation for the World Cup. They are winless in their last five games and didn't score a single goal in the three warm-up matches against Switzerland, Italy and Jamaica before their trip to the West Islands.

However, they did only concede one goal in those three matches, hinting that manager Reynald Pedros will focus on setting up the team with a defensive shape and try to keep multiple players behind the ball at all times. It would be a very similar strategy to the men's Moroccan team, who went on a historic run to the 2022 World Cup semifinals.

It is now the Lionesses' turn to create their own Cinderella run.

Germany vs Morocco Pick

This is quite the David and Goliath matchup, with Germany ranking second in the world and looking to secure a third World Cup trophy, while Morocco are the second-lowest ranked team in the competition and will be making their World Cup debut.

Still, a spread of three is too high. Germany have fallen out of rhythm as of late, and Morocco have shown that they keep a scoreline in reach. Morocco haven't lost a match by three or more goals since 2018.

Moreover, in the early stages of this tournament we have seen that the underdogs have been consistently covering a larger spread. Expect that trend to continue on Monday and back the Lionesses to display a prideful first World Cup performance.

The Pick: Morocco +2.5 (+120 via Caesars)
