Manchester City Prediction

While I'm sure that Pep Guardiola and Manchester City can't wait to see the end of what has been — by their standards — a dreadful season, things aren't quite as bad for the Sky Blues as they once were.

City are unbeaten in eight games across all competitions, and their 2-0 win over Champions League-hopefuls Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semifinals guarantees that even in a nightmare season, they could end up with some silverware in their hands.

Much of their comeback can be attributed to the performances of Matheus Nunes, Nico O’Reilly, and Omar Marmoush. The midfielders have been a revelation for Guardiola as deputy full-backs, providing the team with pace and width in the attack. At the same time, the striker has made Erling Haaland's absence bearable, lighting up with seven goals and three assists in 17 games.

goals per game, 0.59 fewer than they scored last season. bettingexpert

Pep Guardiola’s men are now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and have won four games in a row for the first time since October, including a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday in their FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Nunes' 94th-minute winner against Aston Villa secured City a temporary top-four spot, while they have managed 14 points from 18 available since their defeat to Forest early in March, bang average numbers in previous years, but blistering form compared to their early-season performance.

Still, Guardiola isn't fielding their best possible team. Erling Haaland, Rodri, Nathan Ake and John Stones are all key players out of contention, while Oscar Bobb and Ederson are still in doubt.

Wolverhampton Prediction

Head coach Vítor Pereira's work at Wolverhampton Wanderers has been nothing short of a miracle. When he arrived at Molineux in December, the team was one of the league's leading relegation candidates, sitting 19th on the table with just nine points in 16 games and a league-worst 40 goals conceded.

Flash forward to the present, and things are very different. Some 20 points clear of the bottom three, they are now on a six-game winning run since mid-March, which has included iconic results such as a 4-2 thrashing of Tottenham and a 1-0 heroic victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The streak is tied for this season's best, only matched by European spots contenders Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United. In fact, only Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester City and Arsenal have collected more points than Wolverhampton since Pereira took over, and only two of those — Liverpool and Newcastle — have won more games.

Pereira will be looking to make it seven in a row, a record that the club last achieved nearly 80 years ago in 1946, but the odds aren't in his favor. As per Sofascore, Wolves have failed to keep a clean sheet in the past ten games against Manchester City across all competitions, with Pep Guardiola’s side winning the last four matchups at the Etihad.

Luckily for the Portuguese coach, he'll have some talent back at his disposal. Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez and Yerson Mosquera all remain out of contention with knee injuries, but Hwang Hee-chan and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde returned to the bench against Leicester and should be available for this game.

Wolverhampton vs. Man City Pick

I'm pretty sure Wolverhampton are lamenting this game has been scheduled in May. Just a few months ago, you might've even called them favorites. They almost held City to a tie in October, when both teams were playing dreadful football, the game only slipping from their hands thanks to a 95th-minute winner by John Stones.

But that was then, and this is now. City aren't back to their treble-winning form, but they won't be outmuscled by less talented teams anymore either. At Molineux, I might have put it down as a tie, but over at the Etihad, Guardiola's team will ensure they keep the pressure on Forest as the run to the European spots decider continues.

Still, I wouldn't expect a goal-fest. Manchester City is the second-highest scoring team in the Premier League, averaging 1.94 goals per game, according to bettingexpert, but they've only gone over the 3.5 total twice in their last nine. Without Haaland, they remain a slim-margin team.

Wolverhampton vs. Man City Pick: Manchester City Moneyline, Under 3.5 Goals
