Panama Prediction

Panama might not be at the Mexico-USA level in Concacaf, but it is certainly among the next tier's top teams.

When facing lesser opposition, their attacking-minded approach has paid off well. Panama won all three matches in their group, including thrashings of Jamaica 4-1 and Guadeloupe 5-2.

Ismael Diaz has been their standout player. The 28-year-old left winger plays for Universidad Catolica in the Chilean league and is the tournament's top goalscorer after netting five in the group stage.

He also scored in the 3-0 win against Nicaragua on June 10, their latest World Cup qualifying match just before the start of the Gold Cup.

Michael Amir Murillo, right back for Olympique Marseille in the French League 1, is another one of their star players and will return to the lineup after manager Thomas Christiansen rested him in their previous match against Jamaica.

Honduras Prediction

Reinaldo Rueda's teams tend to be well-organized in defense and not risk too much, but after Canada thrashed them 6-0 in their Gold Cup opener, the Colombian manager had to throw caution to the wind.

The quality of the next rivals also made it easier. Honduras beat El Salvador (2-0) and Curazao (2-1) to advance to this quarterfinal match.

Like Panama, Honduras also topped their World Cup qualifying group in the second round, but against opposition like Bermuda, Cuba, Antigua and Barbuda, and the Cayman Islands.

Rueda and Honduras will probably revert to cautiousness versus Panama in this Gold Cup quarterfinal and hope to score on a break, a set-piece play, or just by grinding it out until the end.

One thing to note: they tend to score late goals in this tournament. The winner against Curazao came at 90+1 minutes, and their second goal against El Salvador arrived at 90+5 minutes.

Panama vs. Honduras Prediction

Panama has been on a roll this year. They advanced to the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers by topping their group. Also, they finished as runners-up in the Concacaf Nations League this year, beating the USA 1-0 in the semifinals and losing to Mexico 2-1 in the final match.

They are the favorites in this match and deservedly so. Honduras will put up a fight that could increase the score and help get over the 2.5 total line.
