PSG vs. Tottenham Pick, Betting Analysis

Exactly one month ago, PSG fell 3-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup final, and now they’re seeking revenge. The club has kept the core of the squad that delivered their first-ever Champions League title as they aim to continue dominating both France and Europe.

On the other hand, Tottenham enters the new season without their star, Son Heung-min, who was sold to Los Angeles FC in the MLS, and without James Maddison, who is sidelined with a torn ACL. To refresh their roster, they brought in Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, and João Palhinha.

However, the most significant change is the arrival of Thomas Frank as head coach. Winning the Europa League wasn’t enough for Ange Postecoglou to keep his job after finishing 17th in last season’s Premier League.

For the decisive match against PSG, the Spurs won’t have Dejan Kulusevski due to a knee injury, and Dominic Solanke is doubtful with the same issue, adding to Maddison’s already confirmed absence. Much of the team’s play will rely on Pape Matar Sarr, who played a central role during preseason friendlies.

Those warm-up games left Frank with mixed feelings. They edged out rivals Arsenal 1-0, drew 1-1 with Newcastle, but were soundly beaten 4-0 by the powerful Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, PSG had a lighter preseason schedule and signed goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier and defender Ilya Zabarnyi in the transfer window. Major absences for the UEFA Super Cup clash will include Gianluigi Donnarumma—who has been linked to a transfer—and Joao Neves, suspended after being sent off in the final against Chelsea.

Luis Enrique’s squad arrives as heavy favorites. Although they recently lost to Chelsea, their Champions League campaign saw them eliminate three English teams in the knockout stage (Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal).

While they will face a tough Spurs defense led by Cuti Romero, the Ligue 1 giants will look to impose their style, based on extended possession and using the full width of the pitch with their fast wingers and fullbacks.

In that sense, Desire Doue is highly likely to score, with much of the focus on his attacking teammates: Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The 20-year-old Frenchman scored twice in the Champions League final against Inter, proving he doesn’t shy away from big moments.

Pick: Desire Doue Anytime Goalscorer (+175, Fanatics)
