Mensik vs Fonseca Preview, Prediction

Jakub Mensik Betting Preview

Mensik’s biggest strengths are his athleticism, all-court coverage and elite first serve.

Mensik’s aggression on the baseline and an serve has been compared to that of Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev.

In addition to Mensik’s elite serve and net-play, he has a very versatile shot selection, including a very effective drop shot amongst several others.

His unorthodox “rush the net” type-style has enabled him to shorten points and finish rallies with volleys.

Joao Fonseca Betting Preview

The world’s 28th-ranked player has been phenomenal across his first few matchups at Roland Garros, including an outlandish upset victory versus the best player of all time in 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic.

Over the course of Djokovic's career, he previously held an astounding 210-1 record when leading by two sets.

That said, the Brazilian superstar phenom did just that, overcoming a two-set deficit on his way to a five-set victory.

While I was extremely early on the Fonseca hype-train, I'm rather disappointed in my decision to not take a future on the Brazilian. That said, it would've been rather difficult to anticipate Jannik Sinner’s health concerns and cramping in his defeat to Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

The Brazilian youngster boasts a hyper-aggressive style that heavily relies on his explosive power-forehand often imposed behind the baseline.

Though Fonseca is extremely comfortable controlling rallies from the baseline, his style contrasts most baseline-prowess skillsets, given he has a highly unpredictable shot selection.

The Brazilian youngster also implements a highly-effective two-handed backhand, along with a power forehand that consistently reaches up to 100 mph.

Fonseca’s aggressive style has often thrown off his opponents in the past given the versatility in his shot selection, which includes his power-forehand, a lethal backhand and a top-notch serve.

Jakub Mensik vs Joao Fonseca Predictions, Betting Analysis

While these two have looked sensational across their first few rounds, I favor the Brazilian youngster.

Though Mensik boasts a top tier serve and a stellar two-handed backhand, I favor Fonseca to get it done on Tuesday.

Fonseca's forehand overpowers his opponents' and results in his opponents lining up far beyond the baseline in order to be able to effectively return such a high-velocity groundstroke.

Though Mensik boasts a top tier serve on clay, I worry about his return game, given the overwhelming power behind the Brazilian’s power-forehand. That forehand has given some of the best players in the world fits, one of which was Djokovic.

There's no doubt in my mind that both players will be pushed to the brink in Tuesday afternoon’s quarterfinal showdown, so I'll be looking to back the game total to exceed the match’s 37.5 game total mark with -130 juice.

For my second pick, I'll be looking to attack the set score market, which presents sizable value for the 19-year-old Brazilian to reign supreme in five closely-contested sets.

Pick: Over 37.5 | Fonseca to Win in 5 Sets (+450)
