Week 2 Fantasy Streaming Adds: Cases For Rostering Jameis Winston, Packers Defense & More

“Streaming” quarterbacks, kickers and defenses has been a fantasy football strategy I’ve used successfully for years.
I’ve parlayed that success into a series of weekly recommendations of the top streaming options at those three positions as well as tight end — a position I don’t recommend streaming week-to-week, though still offer recommendations for fantasy players who may need a short-term rental.
Note that these players are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! leagues, but that these recommendations do not mean that they are the best streamer play for your league — be sure to check my up-to-the-minute rankings to see who the best available player is in your league.
Saints QB Jameis Winston @ CAR
Hopefully, you followed my draft strategy to target one of the top six QBs or stash Trey Lance or Justin Fields for later in the season. If you did neither and find yourself looking for a long-term solution at QB, feel free to put in a decent bid for Winston.
He could be a low-end QB1 for the rest of the season or could flame out at any point and be replaced by Taysom Hill. The odds of that seem much lower after Week 1, and I think learning under Drew Brees and Sean Payton for a year has allowed him to embrace a more efficient style of play.
Winston makes for a great Week 2 play against a Panthers defense that just allowed rookie Zach Wilson to throw for 258/2/1 against them. However, if you’d rather save your FAAB for other positions, Teddy Bridgewater (11% rostered) is a smart Week 2 pivot as he faces a Jaguars squad that just made Tyrod Taylor look like Deshaun Watson. He has a similar Week 2 outlook and can probably be had for free. Bridgewater faces the Jets next week, so he will essentially be a two-week rental.
Packers Defense vs. DET
After getting shellacked by the Saints in Week 1, look for the Lions to be the sacrificial lambs in Week 2.
Seahawks Kicker Jason Myers vs. TEN
The Seahawks have one of the highest implied team totals of Week 2 (29). They should be able to move the ball with ease against the Titans and give Myers plenty of scoring opportunities.
Chargers TE Jared Cook vs. DAL
The reports out of camp that Justin Herbert had instant chemistry with Cook were proven to be true in Week 1 as he saw the third-most targets (eight) from the Year 2 QB.
Cook has a juicy matchup this week against a Cowboys defense that coughed up two Rob Gronkowski TDs in Week 1. I foresee Cook being one of Herbert’s favorite targets in the red zone this year and like his chances of scoring a TD here.
