As the global golf calendar transitions into its highly anticipated summer links swing, the elite of the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour have descended upon The Renaissance Club in North Berwick for the 2026 Genesis Scottish Open.

Serving as the ultimate tune-up before next week's Open Championship, the tournament represents a massive narrative and statistical testing ground. That’s why the “Genesis Scottish Open Winner” market at Kalshi has driven massive amounts of trading volume. While there is a clear top dog, there are many interesting positions on the board.

The World’s No. 1 Sits at the Top

However, there are solid contrarian arguments against the lead. Primarily, the fact that his recent results have been disappointing. The 30-year-old fell short in his first attempt to complete the career Grand Slam last month at the U.S. Open. Then, he finished second at the Travelers Championship.

In recent interviews, Scheffler admitted that being that close to winning but ending up empty-handed can be extremely frustrating. But he also feels like a fourth- and second-place finish are not bad results in a sport like golf, where margins are extremely small. It remains to be seen if he is able to turn that frustration into an elite performance that finally secures him another trophy.

Runners-up to Watch Out For: McIlroy, Rahm, Schauffele and More

Sitting just below Scheffler, Rory McIlroy offers a compelling position for traders looking to fade the favorite. The Northern Irish golfer possesses clear structural advantages on this layout. For instance, his elite driving distance allows him to cleanly neutralize the course’s complex par-5 configurations.

Traders backing McIlroy are betting that his comfort level on true Scottish links will allow him to rapidly scale the leaderboard, triggering a swift vertical re-pricing of his contract once the tournament gets underway.

The third and fourth places on the board belong to Jon Rahm and Matt Fitzpatrick, respectively. Both are world-class champions whose tightly grouped implied probabilities suggest the market views them as having nearly identical paths to victory. In Rahm’s case, his Yes shares will surely spike if he manages to fire an early, low-scoring round on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, Xander Schauffele is positioned surprisingly low, trading in sixth place on the Kalshi market. Not only is he experienced in the tournament, but he also has arguably the highest floor in golf. Furthermore, Schauffele has won the Scottish Open in the past. He captured the title in the 2022 edition, shooting a 7-under 273 at The Renaissance Club to finish one shot ahead of Kurt Kitayama. Currently, he seems like a solid option for this particular market.

The beauty of the Genesis Scottish Open is that it boasts a highly anticipated mix of PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf members, most of whom are preparing for the upcoming British Open. Whoever hoists the trophy at The Renaissance Club will inevitably enter the final major of the year as one of, if not the, strongest contenders in the world.
