Two NL West rivals, the Padres and Diamondbacks, wrap up a mini two-game set in Arizona Tuesday night with two talented southpaws on the mound.

Arizona's Robbie Ray and San Diego's Joey Lucchesi may not have sparkling numbers, but they both have the potential for a dominant showing any time they take the hill.

Ray showed last year that, when he's on, he's amont the league's best left-handed pitchers. The Tennessee native posted a 2.89 ERA and held opponents to a .199 batting average in 2017.

This year has been up-and-down for the former Tiger, but he was dealing with a strained oblique that cost him two months on the disabled list.

Fortunately, Ray appears to be fully recovered from the ailment and is finding his pre-injury form.

Ray has surrendered just one run in each of his last two assignments while racking up 16 strikeouts in 10.1 innings.

Those two outings helped bring his K/9 mark this season (11.87) close to what it was a year ago (12.11) during his breakout campaign.

Like Ray, Lucchesi also enters this start in a bit of a groove. The 25-year-old posted quality starts in his last two assignments, which is something he hadn't done since April.

And just like Ray, this 25-year-old rookie sustained an early-season injury that resulted in a stint on the DL. When he landed on the sidelines in mid-May, Lucchesi owned a very admirable 3.23 ERA.

The Diamondbacks have been struggling as of late and that could help Lucchesi navigate a tough lineup. The Snakes have dropped four games in a row and six of eight overall, scoring just 14 runs total.

Unfortunately, the over/under line has shrunk down to 7.5 from 8, so make sure you shop around for the best line available in order to secure it at the latter number. Once again, this is why it's important to follow me in the SportsAction app to ensure you get the pick as soon as its released.

Play: UNDER 7.5/8 (-120)
