For my Tuesday MLB player props, I'll be backing Kyle Schwarber, who has a great matchup against the Blue Jays.
Additionally, I'll be targeting Freddie Peralta against the Reds and Gleyber Torres against the White Sox.
Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks for Tuesday, June 3.
MLB Player Props, Picks — 6/3
- Kyle Schwarber Over 0.5 Home Runs (+250, BetMGM)
- Freddie Peralta Under 16.5 Outs Recorded (- 115, Fanatics)
- Gleyber Torres Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + Batted In (-140, Fanatics)
Phillies vs Blue Jays Player Props: Great Matchup for Schwarber
Last year, Kyle Schwarber had a very memorable trip to Toronto.
In the first game of the series, he hit three home runs, including a go-ahead three-run shot in the ninth. Then he homered again the next day to leave the quick two-game series with four home runs.
Schwarber is up to his usual tricks again, with 19 home runs on the year. He's fourth in the MLB in home runs and fifth in OPS. However, he's been losing ground lately because Cal Raleigh and Shohei Ohtani won't stop hitting home runs themselves.
Schwarber likely doesn't care where he stands on the home run leaderboard, but he'll care about his great matchup today.
Blue Jays' starter Bowden Francis has allowed 12 home runs to left-handed hitters in only 120 at-bats. They're also hitting .283 with a .962 OPS against him.
Schwarber has nine home runs against right-handed pitching this season, but he also has 10 against left-handers in case the Blue Jays try to get a left-on-left matchup on him later in the game.
He also has 10 home runs on the road this season. He's hitting .292 with four home runs and a 1.167 in six games at the Rogers Centre.
With his matchup on Tuesday, I like his chances of hitting another homer.
Brewers vs Reds Player Props: Peralta Shouldn't Go Long
Thus far this season, Freddie Peralta has been solid with a 2.77 ERA. He's been a bit fortunate as his xERA is 3.57, but that may be because he's turned into an escape artist.
Peralta has walked two batters in six of his last seven starts, including three walks in four of them. That has driven up both his WHIP and his pitch count.
In his last two starts, Peralta has thrown over 100 pitches but failed to get to the sixth inning.
He has six starts this season with 90 pitches while working five innings or less. As a result, he hasn't gone deep into his starts, especially lately, and has only recorded 17 outs in three of 12 starts this season.
Peralta can pile up the strikeouts, but he's typically not considered a workhorse. He's crossed 150 innings just twice, with a career-high 173 2/3 last season.
Given that, you would think manager Pat Murphy may not want his ace surpassing 100 pitches in three consecutive starts.
With how inefficient he's been with his pitches of late, he'll likely work only five innings.
Tigers vs White Sox Player Props: Back Torres to Produce
The Tigers came to Chicago after scoring one run in their last two games in Kansas City. However, their series opener on Monday turned into more of a party. They homered five times en route to a 13-1 victory.
Gleyber Torres didn't homer, but he scored on two of Kerry Carpenter's four-baggers. Overall, he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in before being pulled due to the blowout.
As a result, Torres recorded six hits + runs + runs batted in, and on Tuesday, he'll only need two to top this line. Last night's game was a mini-breakout for him after he didn't record a hit in the series against the Royals. However, prior to that, he had cleared this line in four of his previous five games.
On Tuesday, he'll face White Sox rookie Shane Smith for the first time.
Smith has been solid, with a 2.68 ERA. Against right-handed batters, he's been more hittable, with a .233 opposing batting average.
Torres is hitting .275 on the year, even while being unlucky thus far. He ranks in the 90th percentile or better in xBA (.301) and xSLG (.557).
His StatCast page is more reflective of when he plays at night, as he's hitting .330 in night games this season.
Manager AJ Hinch is known to use a ton of different lineups and combinations. However, Torres figures to hit in front of at least two of Riley Greene, Carpenter and Spencer Torkelson –perhaps all three — with Parker Meadows making his season debut and leading off last night.
If Torres gets a hit, one of them will be able to drive him, unless Torres drives in Meadows or himself with a homer.
