Grizzlies vs Knicks NBA Preview

The Knicks, somewhat quietly, are out to a 6-3 start (both straight up and against the spread) while second in offense and 10th in defense this season.

So far, the Knicks have been favored in every game they've played this year after opening night, where they defeated the Cavaliers in a game between two short-handed teams.

The easiest way to describe the Knicks' season so far is to recognize that they're just handling their business.

They're undefeated at home, they're winless on the road, they're mostly beating who they're supposed to — at least at Madison Square Garden — and they don't yet have a win over an elite healthy team, or a loss over a bad one.

In their defense, how often will you see an elite healthy team in the NBA during the regular season?

Memphis, oddly enough, has been a louder team in terms of headlines. Is Ja Morant getting traded? No one else. But he doesn't appear happy.

The Grizzlies are just 4-7 on the year, 24th in offense, and 19th in defense. Morant is shooting a three-point percentage that in baseball would get you sent down to the Minors. And the team is only 3-8 ATS — worse than all but two teams (Brooklyn and Washington).

Side note: Memphis is tied with Cleveland ATS.

Injury report time: Mitchell Robinson is questionable with an ankle injury, the same one that has lingered all year.

This is the front end of a back-to-back, and the Knicks have Orlando tomorrow.

There is a higher chance Robinson sits tonight than tomorrow, but more surprising things have happened.

For Memphis, Zach Edey (ankle), Ty Jerome (calf), Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe), Brandon Clarke (knee) and Javon Small (toe) are all out.

Grizzlies vs Knicks Prediction, Betting Analysis

The Knicks allow the sixth most threes per 100 possessions, and if we're expecting Memphis to play catch-up for much of this, why not target the three-point market?

There are really only two guys you'd want to back here between Jaren Jackson Jr. and Cedric Coward.

I'll roll with Jackson as a means to stretch out Karl-Anthony Towns if Robinson sits, or even if they're both active.

Jackson doesn't put up a ton of volume from long range, with a three-point rate of 35.4%, but he's 18-of-46 on the year, good for 39 percent made, and has gone over 1.5 conversions in 6-of-8 heading into tonight.

Pick: Jaren Jackson Jr. Over 1.5 Three-Pointers Made (+100, DraftKings)
