Raptors vs Warriors NBA Preview

The Warriors beat down the Heat last night, but at what cost?

Unfortunately, the cost was Jimmy Butler, who is sitting tonight, and will for much longer due to torn ACL.

Butler, who turns 37 in September, will be on the last year of his extension in 2026-27, putting the Dubs in a precarious situation as the Jonathan Kuminga relationship fracture looms large ahead of the February 5 trade deadline.

Draymond Green was initially probable (ankle) but later downgraded to questionable and subsequently ruled out before tip-off.

Ultimately, last night was an excellent shooting game for Golden State, who put up 135 in four quarters on the back of a 24-of-51 shooting display from deep. Stephen Curry went 5-for-10, for what it's worth.

Miami put up 112, but Eastern Conference Player of the Week Bam Adebayo was anything but, going 1-for-13 after winning the award earlier in the day.

His over was my two-star play on Buckets — thankfully, Aaron Wiggins came through otherwise.

The Raptors have lost 4-of-6 and are on the second of a five-game west coast road trip.

The Warriors have won four in a row and have been victorious in 12-of-16.

For the Warriors, Butler (ACL) is out. Green (ankle) is expected to play. De'Anthony Melton (knee maintenance) sat on Monday but may play in the second game of a back-to-back. Seth Curry (sciatica) and Gui Santos (ankle) were both inactive last night, and Curry is expected to sit again Tuesday.

For Toronto, RJ Barrett (ankle), Collin Murray-Boyles (thumb), Jakob Poeltl (back) and Ja'Kobe Walter (hip) are all out.

Raptors vs Warriors Prediction, Betting Analysis

In looking for beneficiaries of Butler's absence, Buddy Hield is one to consider.

He's gone over 8.5 points in all six games without Butler this season, and even last night amid Butler's injury, where Draymond Green sat.

The wild card here could be an entry from Kuminga, but given how contentious that relationship has become, Golden State is probably more likely to move him in the wake of Butler's injury for supplemental roster help than work things out with the talented young forward.

Even so, Hield should have a legitimate role, even as his minutes have been limited lately, but things might be different imminently as the Warriors decide what to do with whatever is left of the Steph Curry era.

Pick: Buddy Hield Over 8.5 Points (-120)
