North Dakota State will travel to Nebraska to take on the Creighton Bluejays on Tuesday night.
ND State has notched wins against just one opponent ranked in the top 300 in KenPom’s rankings — Tarleton State at 182nd. Their other wins have come against Concordia-Moorhead (unranked), Cal Poly (318th) and Idaho (354th).
But, that’s because they’ve beaten all the teams they should have beaten — and lost to those ranked above them in KenPom. The Bison were beaten by Arizona (16th) in a blowout but they only lost to the University of Las Vegas Nevada (136th) by two points in a game that saw several lead changes down the stretch.
The Bison sit at 149th overall in KenPom’s rankings.
Creighton (6-1) have had a solid start to the season, with their only loss coming at home against Colorado State, which is ranked 52nd overall. The Rams are currently undefeated at 7-0.
But while the Bluejays have rebounded since that loss to win two straight, they weren’t the prettiest of wins. Creighton won by two against an OK team in Southern Illinois (141th) but only won by five against unranked (out of 358 teams) Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
With those factors in mind, what do the sharps and wise guys think about this contest?
