CSUN vs Cal Poly College Basketball Betting Preview

I project this total to be between 172 and 174 (based on how much I dampen the pace, which I do as the season progresses), so I show some value on the Under at the current market price.

College Basketball Projections, Picks: Tanner McGrath's Power Ratings & Score Model Image

This is an all-time sicko Under. These are the two fastest-paced teams in the nation by adjusted tempo. The first game finished with a whopping 80 possessions and 185 points.

Still, it took a couple of excellent shooting performances from both sides to hit that mark. CSUN shot 9-for-20 from 3 (45%), while Cal Poly ripped off a ridiculous 16-for-44 (36%) beyond-the-arc shooting performance.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some regression in those marks. It’s worth mentioning that the Mustangs have shot just 27% from 3 at home this year, and those games finished 6-2 to the Under.

Regardless, I project 79.3 possessions for this ballgame, with CSUN scoring 1.12 PPP and Cal Poly scoring 1.07 PPP. Throw in some home-court advantage, and that’s how I get around 174 points.

My Pick: Under 176 or Better
