UNC Greensboro vs Furman College Basketball Betting Preview

I project Furman as just under 10-point home favorites, so I think it’s worth taking the Spartans at +12.5 or better, representing nearly a three-point difference between my projections and the market.

College Basketball Projections, Picks: Tanner McGrath's Power Ratings & Score Model Image

Furman crushed the Spartans a few weeks ago, winning 89-66. However, the Paladins shot an absurd 14-for-27 (52%) from beyond the arc — there was some luck involved in the blowout.

I expect some regression in the rematch. For what it’s worth, ShotQuality graded that game as a six-point Furman win based on the “quality” of shots taken, and I think that better represents the true difference between these two.

Furman’s defense is likely overvalued at large, given conference opponents have shot just 31% from 3 on the season.

I’m the world’s biggest Justin Neely fan, and after dropping 20 points on 6-for-7 from the field and 8-for-9 from the charity stripe, I expect another monster performance from him to keep the Spartans within striking distance for 40 minutes.

My Pick: UNC Greensboro +12.5 or Better
