Arizona State Sun Devils Betting Preview

Even though Arizona State failed to cover, the Sun Devils were able to secure a comfortable win over Hawaii, routing the Rainbow Warriors, 30-12.

Cutter Boley was efficient under center, throwing a pair of touchdowns while completing 67.7% of his passes. Boley was also able to find success on the ground, adding 40 rushing yards.

While Boley is averaging just 2.5 yards per carry, his willingness to run gives Arizona State’s offense slightly more dynamism. Unfortunately for Boley, his dual-threat abilities haven't been rewarded near the goal line, with the offense ranking 88th in finishing drives.

The lack of production Boley receives from Arizona State’s stable of running backs holds the Sun Devils back from being a well-rounded unit. The offense ranks well below average in rush success rate, PPA, and explosiveness.

Speaking of explosive plays, the Sun Devils have given up big gains at an alarming rate, plummeting to the bottom of the board in defensive explosiveness and havoc.

Texas Tech Red Raiders Betting Preview

At 5-0, Texas Tech is in the driver’s seat for the Big 12 conference championship while navigating a favorable schedule. Texas Tech not only dodges Utah and BYU, but the two rivals square off against each other later in the year, narrowing the field in favor of the Red Raiders.

If Texas Tech is going to make a run at the title, the offense must quickly round back into form to avoid. Creating explosive plays has been a thorn in the side of the Red Raiders, who rank 105th in explosiveness.

Will Hammond has also struggled to take care of the ball, averaging one interception per game while residing near the bottom of the board in havoc allowed.

To help mask Hammond’s inconsistencies under center, the Red Raiders have hit the ground running, climbing into the top 50 in rush success rate and PPA. Even with Cameron Dickey dealing with injury, J’Koby Williams has been able to keep the offense afloat while averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

While the offense has sputtered, Texas Tech has been dominant on defense, ranking ninth in points per opportunity.

Arizona State vs Texas Tech NCAAF Pick to Bet

With the Red Raiders defense firing on all cylinders, Boley will be unable to keep Arizona State afloat, especially with the ground game making the Sun Devils one-dimensional on offense.

If the Sun Devils are able to create an explosive play and get into scoring position, points will come at a premium in the shortened field, with the Red Raiders giving up just 2.35 points per opportunity.

On the other side of the ball, Texas Tech will take advantage of a front seven that gives up sizable gains on the ground. This will allow the Red Raiders to run the ball at a higher rate and reduce the possibility of Hammond throwing a pick.

By keeping the ball on the ground, Texas Tech will be able to control the time of possession while keeping Arizona State’s offense off the field.

With Arizona State struggling to move the ball down the field, the offense will be vulnerable to falling into prolonged cold stretches of play. That will keep the Sun Devils under the team total.

Gobble up the juiced 17.5s with a stop point at 14.5. If the spread ticks back down to a flat -14, place a separate wager on the Red Raiders to cover the number as well.

Pick: Arizona State Team Total Under 17.5
