Southern Miss Betting Stats & 2019 Season Profile

  • Season Record: 7-5
  • Against-the-Spread Record: 6-6
  • Conference: Conference USA
  • Offense Yards Per Play Rank: 45
  • Defense Yards Per Play Rank: 71
  • S&P+ Special Teams Rank: 81

Analysis: Southern Miss had a pretty good all around season, but was very fortunate in turnover luck and commits a ton of penalties. Quarterback Jack Abraham leads the Golden Eagles’ offense, and he’s had his ups and downs. His 8.7 yards per attempt is solid, and Southern Miss was top 35 in both passing explosiveness and efficiency. But Abraham also threw 15 interceptions to just 18 touchdowns. On defense, the Eagles are almost as aggressive. They give up big plays at a bottom-3 and but rank top 40 in passing and rushing efficiency against. — Steve Petrella

Tulane Betting Stats & 2019 Season Profile

  • Season Record: 6-6
  • Against-the-Spread Record: 8-4
  • Conference: AAC
  • Offense Yards Per Play Rank: 40
  • Defense Yards Per Play Rank: 57
  • S&P+ Special Teams Rank: 62

Analysis: Tulane started hot against a weak schedule (minus at Auburn), but really came back to earth against the better teams in the AAC in the second half. The Green Wave finished the regular season losing five of their last six games, including defeats to Memphis, SMU, Navy, UCF and Temple. They were a little bit unlucky in a few (three losses by one possession). I do think Tulane is a little better than its 6-6 record indicates. The Green Wave ranked 38th in yards per play differential and top 60 on both offense and defense, according to SP+. — Steve Petrella
