  • BlackJack Fletcher gives his three favorite plays of the weekend slate, including Toledo-FIU, Memphis-Wake Forest and Army-Houston.

"Twas' the weekend before Christmas and all through the house, not a single bet was stirring, not even a tease."

Not in this house, baby.

We've got bets all day, every day. It is a holiday weekend of sorts and the bowl games are starting to get interesting, and that's where we live. Interesting bowl games is what we do.

Hell, interesting, not interesting, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that there is still football left to bet on, and bet it we shall, friends.

FIU vs. Toledo (-7)

Friday, 12 p.m. ET, ESPN

FIU's top running back and quarterback are out for this game, which will seriously damage its offense. I also like the offensive and defensive lines of Toledo better than the Panthers.

Toledo is a more experienced and balanced team.

THE PICK: Toledo -7

Wake Forest vs. Memphis (-3.5)

Saturday, 12 p.m. ET, ESPN

Memphis will be missing star running back Darrell Henderson as he preps for the NFL Draft. This is a huge blow to the Tigers as he averaged more than eight yards per carry and added a jolt of electricity to the Memphis offense.

I think Memphis' defense will be unable to contain Wake, which has a habit of winning bowl games under Dave Clawson.

THE PICK: Wake Forest +3.5

Houston vs. Army (-4.5)

Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

First, it would just be un-American  to pick against Army in the Armed Forces Bowl. If you want more than that, Army has a solid ball-control offense with its triple-option attack and Houston will be very susceptible to it without star defensive lineman Ed Oliver.

Houston simply won't be able to keep pace with Army, as they will tire and the Knights will roll.

THE PICK: Army -4.5

Let's enjoy the weekend and CASH IT!
