Collin Wilson's BBOC Best Bet For Friday
I played Auburn ML.
I know the warts that Auburn has, but there are problems with Baylor, too.
People are crazy about Sawyer Robertson, but he had only 15 Big Time Throws (BTTs) to 16 Turnover Worthy Plays (TWPs) last season while ranking outside the top 65 nationally in On-Target rate.
DJ Durkin is replacing some pieces in his 3-3-5 defense, but the Tigers should produce from the first snap. Meanwhile, Robertson’s TWP rate triples in a pressured pocket, and I think there will be hands in his face on Friday.
On the other side of the ball, Baylor finished 118th nationally in PFF’s Coverage grades last season, and the Bears didn’t do much to improve the secondary. Auburn has some excellent receivers, including Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton (2.2 yards per route run), who could play in the slot or out wide, alongside Cam Coleman (elite) and Malcolm Simmons (2.3 YRR from the slot).
I don’t like Robertson. I expect Auburn to apply pressure to the quarterback. And I’m not impressed with Baylor’s secondary.
Add it all together, and I'm backing War Eagle.

Pick: Auburn ML (-130, DraftKings)
Doug Ziefel's Top Player Prop For Friday
By Doug Ziefel
Georgia Tech is ready to take a big step forward after an impressive 2024 campaign in the ACC, and quarterback Haynes King is going to be a big part of that.
King was excellent last season, finishing 13th nationally in QBR with a 14-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
However, his ability to do damage on the ground overshadowed his improvements as a passer. While his ability through the air cannot be overlooked in this matchup, his ability to rush is a big part of the Yellow Jackets' red-zone offense.
King averaged just 3.8 red zone passing attempts per game last season, while he led the team in red zone rushing attempts with 37, which is 3.4 per game.
He faces a Colorado secondary that will have a new look, and it's a bit of a mystery. However, this is still Robert Livingston's system, and the Buffs did not surrender many big plays through the air last season.
With the majority of Georgia Tech's touchdowns likely to come on the ground, this Under is a strong play.
Check out the rest of Ziefel's CFB Player Prop picks in his Friday column.
Pick: Haynes King Under 1.5 Pass TDs (-115, bet365)
Our Featured Bet Labs System For Friday
Early-season matchups with moderate spreads and low totals often create opportunities for underdogs to cover.
In the first two games of the year, oddsmakers and the public have limited data, leading to inflated lines for favorites.
When the total is set on the lower end, each point becomes more valuable, and games tend to be tighter.
With totals below 50.5, betting single-digit ‘dogs capitalizes on market uncertainty, conservative game plans, and the likelihood that talent gaps have not yet translated into dominant scoreboard margins.
Charlotte is the only Short Early Dog for Friday's slate, but it's worth mentioning that our own Stuckey is backing the 49ers on Friday.
I'm willing to give it a try with Stuckey and the PRO system on Friday.
App State might be a big fade team for me this year. The Mountaineers are littered with Power 4 transfers across the roster, but most of those guys were buried on depth charts at other locations, so the talent might not be entirely there. They're also breaking in a new head coach, Dowell Loggains, who is switching the team from a three-man front to a four-man front, which is unusual considering the team lacks defensive line talent and depth.
Charlotte is a total mystery this season, but new head coach Tim Albin is an excellent coach — he was a wizard at Ohio. The offensive line looks decent, and there's a good amount of linebacker depth.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Albin pull off a wild Week 1 upset at home.
