Miami Hurricanes Odds

The 'Canes are riding high off a statement 24-14 upset victory over the Buckeyes on New Year's Eve. Despite the point total, it wasn't a standout offensive performance for Miami and quarterback Carson Beck, who threw for just 138 yards on 26 attempts with one touchdown. Instead, it was a pick-six that ended up being a key difference, as Keionte Scott picked off a Julian Sayin pass and took it 72 yards to the house.

It's comforting that Miami was still able to score two touchdowns and a field goal on a steel-trap Buckeyes' defense, but the Hurricanes' overall offensive performance left much to be desired. They'll have to face a Rebels' defense that held Georgia's Gunner Stockton to just 203 yards on an abysmal 18-for-31 passing last week, so the 'Canes will have to rely on their defense once again to limit Trinidad Chambliss and the rest of Ole Miss' offense. Will lightning strike twice?

Ole Miss Rebels Odds

Speaking of upsets, Ole Miss deposed a blue blood of their own, knocking off No. 3 Georgia in a tight 39-34 slugfest on Thursday. Trinidad Chambliss' career-defining performance led the way as the senior quarterback completed 30-of-46 passes for 362 yards and two touchdowns. The point total might not show it, but the Rebels' defense did a good job defending the pass, forcing Stockton to run the ball in when he got into the red zone.

The Miami passing game shouldn't be too much of an issue for Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl, as the 'Canes don't throw the ball often compared to other Power 4 programs, though Carson Beck has proven to be accurate when he rips a pass off. The real concern for the Rebs should be defending against the ground game, a weakness Georgia was able to exploit. But if Chambliss takes control of the game, the defense may end up playing a secondary role.
