Iowa Betting Stats & 2019 Season Profile

  • Season Record: 9-3
  • Against-the-Spread Record: 5-7
  • Conference: Big Ten
  • Offense Yards Per Play Rank: 86
  • Defense Yards Per Play Rank: 15
  • S&P+ Special Teams Rank: 24

Analysis: The 2019 edition of Iowa is the most Iowa team that ever lived. Bogged down by bad offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz, the Hawkeyes’ offense ranks 87th in yards per play and just 56th in overall efficiency. Despite ranking 37th in rushing success rate and 71st in passing, Iowa passes the ball far more than they run it. An inept offense is backed up by a very good defense. Defensively Iowa keeps everything in front of them and doesn’t allow big plays. Iowa is conservative in every since of the word. Like I said, this is your standard Iowa football team. –Kyle Miller

USC Betting Stats & 2019 Season Profile

  • Season Record: 8-4
  • Against-the-Spread Record: 7-5
  • Conference: Pac-12
  • Offense Yards Per Play Rank: 15
  • Defense Yards Per Play Rank: 77
  • S&P+ Special Teams Rank: 27

Analysis: USC showed some real mettle this season by beating Utah, hanging tough at Notre Dame and going 8-4 against one of the tougher schedules in the country. Oh, and all that with a third-string quarterback. The Trojans turned to Kedon Slovis after injuries to the two quarterbacks above him, and he balled out. Slovis averaged 9.0 yards per attempt with a 28/9 TD/INT ratio. USC ranked No. 4 in passing success rate witha host of big, athletic, future NFL receivers on the outside. The defense was banged up at times and employed a bend-don’t-break style, ranking No. 111 in success rate but No. 18 in explosiveness against. — Steve Petrella
