Florida State Betting Stats & 2019 Season Profile

  • Season Record: 6-6
  • Against-the-Spread Record: 4-7-1
  • Conference: ACC
  • Offense Yards Per Play Rank: 66
  • Defense Yards Per Play Rank: 48
  • S&P+ Special Teams Rank: 97

Analysis: Interim head coach Odell Haggins has been with the Florida State coaching staff since 1994. The Seminoles and Haggins have been in this position before, as he had the same title during the 2017 postseason. Florida State won and covered the Independence Bowl against Southern Miss before the Willie Taggart era began. The most important aspect of the Seminoles in relation to a bowl point spread is the availability of Cam Akers. The junior running back is expected to declare for the NFL draft and may sit out bowl activities. Akers is not the only star player to possibly exit Tallahassee, as defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and wide receiver Tamorrion Terry may opt out for the NFL. Wilson leads the Seminoles in sacks, while Terry is Florida State’s leading target in receptions and receiving yards. — Collin Wilson

Arizona State Betting Stats & 2019 Season Profile

  • Season Record: 7-5
  • Against-the-Spread Record: 4-8
  • Conference: Pac-12
  • Offense Yards Per Play Rank: 61
  • Defense Yards Per Play Rank: 53
  • S&P+ Special Teams Rank: 15

Analysis: The Herm Edwards experiment isn’t going so bad through two years. And he’s got a quarterback in Jayden Daniels who could challenge for a Pac-12 South title in the next few years. The offensive metrics don’t look great, but his rout of Oregon’s defense shows you what he’s capable of. The defense and special teams really carried Arizona State to seven wins this season, and the Sun Devils followed the same blueprint as last season — bend-don’t-break on defense, try to hit home runs on offense. They ranked 25th in net explosiveness but 86th in net success rate. — Steve Petrella
