Action Network MLB expert Jon Anderson landed on Seiya Suzuki as his "pick to click" in this spot, and I agree with every piece of the reasoning.
Anderson's matchups model, which grades hitters against the specific pitch types they face on a given night, spits out a .374 xwOBA, a 15.6% barrel rate, and just an 8.4% swinging-strike rate for Suzuki against King's arsenal. Suzuki handles right-handed sinkers, and that combination of loud contact and low whiff risk is exactly the profile I hunt for in a player market.
The path to production also runs through King's control. Anderson projects King for roughly 5.2 innings, 4.9 hits, and 2.7 earned runs, and he notes the Cubs finished near the league lead in walks and on-base percentage. A patient lineup drags out innings, and long innings hand hitters extra traffic ahead of them. Anderson's game projection lands on nine total runs with San Diego holding a 52% chance in the opener, which tells me the Over 6.5 at 58 cents deserves a look too.
