The NFL Defensive Player of the Year market is very competitive this season. Last year's winner, Patrick Surtain II, does not make it into the odds' top 10 list.

The 2023 recipient, Myles Garrett, ranks third, and the 2022 winner, Nick Bosa, shows up at the eighth spot.

Below are the odds for this year's NFL Defensive Player of the Year via DraftKings.

NFL Defensive Player of the Year Predictions

I'm on two bets that I feel good about for the upcoming NFL season.

Jalen Carter +2200

The former Georgia Bulldog took a massive step forward last season. Carter proved himself to be one of the best players at his position in 2024 and is only getting better.

The Eagles were the best defensive unit in football last season and will be one of the best again.

Carter earned 42 tackles and 4.5 sacks last season, paired with 16 quarterback hits and two forced fumbles.

The 24-year-old will improve on those numbers and be in the conversation to win DPOY.

Quickslip

Sauce Gardner +7500

We will go value hunting with this pick. Sauce Gardner struggled to meet his standards last year with the Jets, but I believe he will return with a strong season in 2025.

We know the talent is there, and when Gardner is at the top of his game, he is arguably the best cornerback in the NFL.

He led the NFL in passes defended (PD) with 20 in the 2022 season. I believe he can return to that dominant form this year in Steve Wilks' defense.
