Jaguars vs Cardinals Week 12 Preview

The Cardinals enter this matchup as a home underdog, and the number has been fluctuating between +2.5 and +3. It should stay at +3 with Marvin Harrison Jr. ruled out, but even with that injury, the Cardinals remain an appealing option against the Jaguars at home.

This sets up as a potential letdown spot for Jacksonville. Last week’s cross-country trip for the Chargers worked in the Jaguars' favor, but now it’s Jacksonville turn to travel, and it simply hasn't been as good on the road.

Jacksonville is about 0.5-to-1 points better than Arizona on a neutral field, and even with the Cardinals' injuries, that would still make this line closer to Jaguars -1 rather than -3.

Jacoby Brissett has been excellent filling in for Kyler Murray for the Cardinals. Even with Harrison out, Brissett has elevated whoever he needs to: Trey McBride with the touchdowns earlier, then Michael Wilson going off for 185 yards last week. Greg Dortch is also playing well and more involved.

Jacksonville took advantage of a flat Chargers offense last week, but by EPA per play, the Jaguars are one of the worst passing teams in the league as Trevor Lawrence just hasn't been great.

The Jags have seemingly found something with Bhayshul Tuten, but he’s banged up, and Jacksonville is likely going to try to run the ball.

The Jaguars should find some success on the ground because the Cardinals defense is trending down — if this bet loses, it’s probably because Arizona’s defense couldn’t get stops.

Still, the numbers make it hard to justify Jacksonville -3 on the road.

Jaguars vs Cardinals Prediction, Betting Analysis

There’s injury uncertainty on both sides of the script in this game.

The Jaguars were more shorthanded last week than expected: Jourdan Lewis and Brenton Strange didn’t come back, Anton Harrison didn’t play, and Travon Walker got banged up.

Arizona has its own concerns in the cornerback room, plus injuries such as Jonah Williams at right tackle.

If one team gets several players back and the other doesn’t, it could swing things.

From a numbers perspective, the Cardinals are the right side; Arizona also works as a strong teaser option.

Brissett set an NFL record last week for most completions in a game without Harrison. The Cardinals have the better quarterback as home 'dogs in this spot.

There are also signs this line is an overreaction. The lookahead line — while not always efficient — had the Cardinals favored by 1-to-1.5.

Jacksonville beat the Chargers in a favorable matchup, while Arizona outgained the 49ers by 250 yards, but had turnovers and allowed a 98-yard kick return — the Cardinals were simply unlucky.

Jacksonville’s road profile adds to the case: a four-point loss to the Bengals with Jake Browning finishing the game, a five-point win over San Francisco helped by a kick return, the overtime escape against the Raiders by one, and the loss at Houston after giving up 26 points to Davis Mills in the fourth quarter.

When the Jaguars travel, they haven’t been good. Now they’re banged up as well.

With Lawrence struggling, the Jaguars don’t have many advantages here. Even the run game depends on the health of Tuten; Travis Etienne can’t log 30 carries every week alone.

Pick: Cardinals +3 (-110)
