Every summer, the arrival of the NFL Top 100 list triggers intense debates across social media. Voted on exclusively by active players, the list serves as the ultimate peer-reviewed evaluation of talent in pro football.

The NFL has just released the first batch of rankings, and while we are months away from the final Top 10 reveal, traders are already speculating over which generational talent deserves the ultimate accolade from his peers. The "#1 Ranked Player?" market is not only growing rapidly in trading volume, but it already showcases a clear favorite.

Myles Garrett Leads the Board

Unlike traditional awards decided by a media panel, the Top 100 list represents a unique puzzle as it is voted by peers. Players tend to favor high-visibility game-changers, elite pass rushers, and veteran quarterbacks who have commanded the league's respect for years.

Myles Garrett stands out as the board's undisputed titan. Traders at Polymarket are heavily backing the premier defensive edge rusher, assuming his widespread peer reverence will comfortably position him at the number-one spot. The arguments in favor of this option are both varied and solid.

First of all, Garrett broke the NFL single-season sack record by recording a staggering 23 sacks. He achieved this milestone in January 2026 during a Week 18 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, passing the previous record of 22.5 sacks that was shared by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt.

Furthermore, analysts believe this achievement is even more impressive because Garrett broke the record despite facing constant double-teams and quick-release offenses. Even though opposing offenses explicitly planned their entire game schemes around stopping him, he still managed to completely disrupt opposing backfields.

For his performance he won his second Defensive Player of the Year award next month, cementing his legacy as one of the all-time greats at his position.

The Chasers: Stafford and Smith-Njigba

Trailing far behind the frontrunner are players like veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford and rising receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The market views these spots as highly volatile, currently placing them as extreme long shots.

The case for Jaxon Smith-Njigba is highly compelling, as he made a massive impression this past season with the Seattle Seahawks. He led the NFL in receiving yards, earned the Offensive Player of the Year award, and capped it off as a Super Bowl LX champion. This historic run resulted in a massive contract extension that made him the highest-paid wide receiver in professional football history.

As if this were not enough, Smith-Njigba was recently named one of TIME Magazine's Top 100 most influential people in sports. While this particular accolade won't have a direct impact on the official NFL player voting, it firmly cements the Seattle superstar as one of the most exciting figures to watch in the coming seasons.

While the top spot feels safely locked up by Garrett, the race for the runner-up positions has triggered intense debate. The market shows extreme parity, with Matthew Stafford and Jaxon Smith-Njigba locked in a virtual coin-flip corridor.
