World Cup Day 22 Betting Recap: France Punch Ticket to Final

It was another impressive defensive display from France, who beat Belgium, 1-0, to advance to their third ever World Cup final.

France and Belgium were really trying to feel each other out in the first half and didn't take too many chances. There was one big save for either side, and the teams entered halftime 0-0.

Just five minutes into the second half, France went up 1-0 on a Samuel Umtiti header. He was a longshot at +3300 to score the first goal of the game, which has become the trend in the knockout stage.

It was the 69th goal off a set-piece out of 158 total this World Cup (43.7%).

Belgium had 60% of the possession but France didn't give them many good looks throghout the match. Even with an additional six minutes of stoppage time, Belgium weren't able to muster up the tying goal, falling 1-0.

France closed +160 on the moneyline and received 45% of bets. They were also favorites (-130) to advance to the final.

The Over/Under for total cards was 4.5 (+145), and despite none given through the first 60 minutes, the over still cashed. There were still just two yellow cards issued by the 87th minute but N'Golo Kante, Kylian Mbappe and Jan Vertonghen were all disciplined to hit the over.

France will play the winner of England-Croatia in the World Cup final on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET.
