Matchday 9 of the World Cup started with a bad beat for the ages as Brazil scored TWICE in stoppage time to beat Costa Rica 2-0. Spread bettors on Costa Rica (+1.5) were left in shock while bettors on Brazil (-1.5) may still be dancing.

In the other Friday matches, Nigeria beat Iceland, 2-0, and Switzerland snuck past Serbia, 2-1.

Here's a look at the betting results.

Match #26: Serbia vs. Switzerland (Group E)

Result: Serbia 1-2 Switzerland

Moneyline: Switzerland +206
Spread: Switzerland PK (+109)
Total: Over 2 goals (-113)

Serbia-Switzerland finally presented fans with an early goal as Serbia's Aleksandar Mitrovic headed home a beauty to go up 1-0.

Serbia took the lead into halftime but it didn't take long for Switzerland to respond, as Granit Xhaka fired him this scorcher to level the game 1-1.

The Swiss weren't done there, and they snatched a 90th minute counter-attack goal to win it 2-1.

An exact scoreline of Switzerland 2-1 paid out +1000 on the moneyline. They're now tied atop Group E with Brazil, one point ahead of Serbia.

Match #25: Nigeria vs. Iceland (Group D)

Result: Nigeria 2-0 Iceland

Moneyline: Nigeria +193
Spread: Nigeria PK (+102)
Total: Push (2 goals)

These teams played to a scoreless first half despite a number of chances, but then the second half rolled around.

Less than 4 minutes after halftime, Nigeria's Ahmed Musa finished a brilliant counter-attack to put the Africans up 1-0.

The game looked out of reach until Iceland were awarded a penalty kick through VAR (Video Assistant Referee) but Gylfi Sigurdsson sailed it over the net. Iceland to miss a PK during the match was listed at +2200.

Nigeria earned a much-needed 2-0 victory and now control their own destiny against Argentina in the final group match.

Match #24: Brazil vs. Costa Rica (Group E)

Result: Brazil 2-0 Costa Rica

Moneyline: Brazil -475
Spread: Brazil -1.5 (-118)
Total: Under 2.5 (+104)

Brazil controlled most of the first half but it was Costa Rica with the best scoring chance. However, neither team could find the back of the net as they entered halftime scoreless. A 0-0 scoreline at the half paid out +225, and the halftime draw paid out +177.

The second half was even more frustrating for Brazil as they had chances throughout, but couldn't finish. Until stoppage time. That's when Philippe Coutinho struck for the Brazilians on a toe-poke inside the box to make it 1-0.

Coutinho was +400 to score the first goal and it looked like Brazil would simply drain the clock to win 1-0. Easy win for Costa Rica +1.5, right?

Betting on soccer is cruel sometimes and Costa Rica backers found out the hard way today:

Neymar's late goal puts him past Romario in sole possession of 3rd all-time on Brazil's top scorers list with 56 goals.

He now only trails Pelé (77) and Ronaldo (62). ?? pic.twitter.com/RaeowO2Oom

Yes, you're reading the clock correctly as Brazil scored in the 7th minute of stoppage time (6 mins + 1 for Brazil's celebration) to make it a 2-0 game. It wasn't the prettiest victory for Brazil but they'll take it, and so will public bettors.

The exact scoreline of Brazil 2-0 paid out +350. They'll face Serbia in the final group match and will still need at least a point to ensure advancing to the Round of 16.
