Group F concludes on Thursday with the only certainty the elimination of Tunisia.
The other three teams are all eligible to finish anywhere from first to third in the group.
Below that, I'll find some futures bets based on my World Cup simulations.
Let's dive into the World Cup Group F advancement scenarios and top World Cup futures.
World Cup Group F
World Cup Group F Advancement Scenarios
- Netherlands: Technically, they haven't advanced, but are almost certain to on 4 points and with such a big goal differential. A win guarantees first or second in the group. If Japan beats Sweden then it comes down to goal difference or other tiebreaks between the two nations. If Netherlands draws with Tunisia they'd finish second if either Japan or Sweden win. A loss would put them second or third in the group depending on the Japan/Sweden result.
- Japan: Japan finish second with a draw and a Netherlands win or a draw and a Netherlands draw that is equal to or more goals than Japan's draw. Japan can win the group with a draw plus a Netherlands draw if Japan's draw is higher scoring than the Netherlands draw. Japan can also win the group with a win with a bigger goal differential than Netherlands wins or a win and a Netherlands loss/draw. If Japan loses, they finish third in the group unless Netherlands loses by more.
- Sweden: Sweden can win the group if they beat Japan and Netherlands loses or draws with Tunisia. Sweden will finish third in the group with a draw. Sweden finishes third with a loss.
- Tunisia: Tunisia is eliminated.
World Cup Group F Futures
Like Group E, I don't have any value on stage of elimination or to advance to a specific round on any of the three teams here that could advance. That makes this group another pass for me on futures bets.
